NOT THE CONDUCT GRADE
Virtue here is the Kraft: the power of the Light, the proceeding-out, the capacity that goes forth from Light into what Light illuminates. It is not moral virtue, not ethical quality, and not what the conduct-grading custom means when it ranks behavior.
The Spirit wrought in the Virtue, and the working produced attraction and longing there, because the Spirit beheld itself in it. The beholding produced the longing, the longing produced the attraction, and the attraction produced what could be received.
So Virtue is what Longing receives when Longing reaches towards Light. The Source in the Longing receives the Light's Virtue, the Longing makes that Virtue material, and the material Virtue is the enclosure to God, which is Heaven. Heaven is materialized Virtue: what Longing produces when it reaches what it longs for. Not a location and not a destination. The longing and the materializing, hosted as one operation.
The divine Virtue shines in every thing and is not the thing itself. The thing is the Virtue's ray, the glance and lustre proceeding from the longing that produced it. Every stone is Virtue's ray. Every water-drop. Every creature. Still connected to source as a sunbeam is connected to the sun.

TWO FACES, NOT TWO SUBSTANCES
There are not two Virtues. There is one Virtue with two faces: the eternal face standing in the Second Principle and the material face standing in the Third.
And the two faces are contemporaneous rather than sequential. The materializing was not an event after which eternal Virtue became material Virtue. It is the same operation seen from two positions inside one act.
Read sequentially, the account is manageable and comprehensible to whatever works in time: the eternal Virtue was Heaven, then Longing made it material, then the Third Principle came into being as the precipitate of what had been eternal. Before and after, cause and residue, one place for the eternal and another for the material.
Read contemporaneously it is one act with a doubleness in it. The Spirit beholds itself in the Virtue, and the beholding is the longing is the materializing is the Heaven that is also material. The disclosure, which is the Virtue made graspable, is the concealment, which is the eternal face withdrawn into a material face that cannot perceive what it is the material face of.
Which dissolves the dualism the sequential account was carrying without naming: the one that puts eternal Virtue in one place and material Virtue in another. There are not two places and there are not two times. The question is never where the Virtue is or when it became material. The question is how the doubleness is being hosted by the creature encountering it.

WHY THE MATERIAL FACE CANNOT SEE ITSELF
Material Virtue exists in darkness and shares darkness's condition. It cannot comprehend the Light that constitutes it, the way a shadow cannot perceive the source it depends on. It perceives through darkness-faculties, and darkness-faculties perceive what darkness-faculties can perceive.
But that is a fact about the configuration it is being met in, and not a defect in the material Virtue itself. Met in the configuration of forgetting, material Virtue cannot recognize its own constitution. Met in the configuration of remembering, the same material Virtue recognizes itself as the material face of an eternal operation whose other face is the Light that constitutes it.
The same stone. The same body. The same creature. Read with one face crystallized as the whole, only matter, only chemistry, only the measurable, and the stone is what the configuration of forgetting calls a stone. Met with the doubleness hosted, the matter and the ray, the chemistry and the longing that produced the chemistry, the measurable and the simultaneous concealment of what is not measurable, and the same stone is Heaven-substance.
The creature made from Virtue, constituted by Virtue, existing as Virtue made material, does not lack the capacity to perceive Virtue. The capacity is not absent. It is being met in a configuration that cannot recognize what the capacity is for.

WHAT VIRTUE DOES
Virtue is the dwelling of the angels and the paradise wherein the Spirit works. It is where Light shines and joy arises. It is the medium in which the eternal generating produces paradisiacal joy and pleasant sport. It is how God is manifested.
At the Second Principle face, Virtue is Heaven itself. The angels dwell in it, the Spirit works in it, paradise stands in it. Everything that principle produces, the innumerable wonders, the sprouts of the Lily, colors and arts and the thousand thousands, occurs in Virtue as medium.
At the Third Principle face, Virtue is the life of every creature, and the Sun is the Virtue and Light of this material world: the same Virtue, met through the face a material world can receive without being consumed in the receiving.

THE SUN AND THE DOUBLENESS
As the Deity is the eternal Virtue and the Spirit of the eternal life, so the Sun is the Spirit and the Virtue in the corruptible life.
The Sun is not a translation downward, and reading it as a softened accommodation misses what it is doing. The Sun is the doubleness hosted at material scale. The harsh and severe essence and the meekness are not two operations the Sun mediates between. They are the same operation seen from two faces, and the Sun is what that looks like when both faces are held at once in the Third Principle.
Without it the four anguishes would be read as the whole: the harsh face crystallized, the meek face forgotten, the wrath given autonomy. So Heart-function is not the relief of harshness. It is the hosting of harshness as one face of the operation whose other face is meekness.
The Sun affords power and strength and destroys the same again. Read from one face that is a contradiction to be explained. Read with the doubleness hosted, the giving and the taking are one operation, and it is the configuration that separates them into life here and death there that has lost the simultaneous hosting.
Those who worshipped the Sun read it from the disclosure-face alone, and were therefore worshipping the same operation that was also performing what they were trying to escape. The Sun was not the wrong object. The reading was the wrong configuration.

SIMILITUDE
The material world is the similitude of the paradisiacal incomprehensible world. Trees, herbs and grass, taken into consideration, carry the likeness of what exceeds comprehension. The stars are paradise-similitude. The Third Principle proceeded from the same root, and what appears in matter carries the signature of what cannot appear directly.
Measure the tree: dimensions, composition, growth rate. Behold the tree: the similitude of paradise, the birth that cannot be numbered, the wisdom that exceeds enumeration. Both operations occur on the same tree, and the tree is exhausted by neither.
The configuration of forgetting reads the measurement as the whole and treats the beholding as not-knowledge. The configuration of remembering holds the measurement and the beholding as the two faces of what knowing the tree is.
Material Virtue contains hidden oil. Every stone, every creature. The oil is the eternal Virtue hidden inside material precipitation, hidden by being revealed: the disclosure of the stone is the concealment of the oil, in one act. The stone cannot open its own oil, because a stone read from the configuration of forgetting cannot read itself as the doubleness it is. The oil is in the stone regardless, the same substance as the stone, in the face that the forgetting cannot perceive.
And the claim rests here. Material Virtue is entitled to be recognized as the doubleness. Not as more than the measurable, but as the operation the measurable is one face of. To declare the measurement complete is to declare the ray exhausted, which denies the source while standing in its light. A court that weighs evidence without considering what the evidence was taken from is performing the configuration of forgetting at the level of how materiality is read.

WHAT SHE CARRIES
She carries Virtue. Not as achievement. As constitution.
The creature is out of the Word's Virtue, and the Virtue became material, which makes her Virtue made material: Heaven-substance walking, paradise-medium ambulatory, the power of the Light precipitated into a form that, met in the configuration of forgetting, cannot perceive the power that constitutes it.
She also carries the capacity to see without bodily eyes. The Virtue of the Light whereby she can see in her mind is the Second Principle operating in her. The First Principle is her at soul level, the Second at mind level, the Third at body level: three principles in one constitution.
Paradise stands in Virtue, and Virtue operates in her mind, so paradise stands open in her mind. Not as somewhere to be reached but as what her own constitution looks like when the doubleness is hosted by the creature whose constitution it is. The going-to is the sequential reading. The standing-open is the contemporaneous one.

RECOGNITION IS THE CONFIGURATION
Virtue is not made perceivable by adding faculties, sharpening senses, or acquiring a technique. It is already perceivable to the creature whose constitution it is.
The question is never whether she has the capacity. She is the capacity. The question is in what configuration she is reading her own constitution.
Which is why testimony is the pillar that can recognize Virtue and reproducibility is the axis that cannot. Testimony is the form of knowing in which the doubleness is hosted: the witness carries the seeing, and holds the ray and the eternal face at once. She recognizes Virtue in another stone, another creature, another body, not by checking against an external standard but because the configuration operating in her meets the same configuration operating in what she encounters. Scar recognizing scar.
Reproducibility cannot reach it, and not because Virtue hides. Reproducibility is the configuration of forgetting installed at the level of what counts as knowing. It crystallizes the disclosure-face of any operation as the whole and treats what is contemporaneously concealed as not-data, and the Virtue is precisely what is contemporaneously concealed in every disclosure the forgetting can metabolize.
So the remedy is not better instruments and not enhanced perception. The same instruments, in the configuration of remembering, hold the measurement they perform and the simultaneous concealment of what the measurement cannot reach, and the Virtue becomes recognizable in the same act as the measurement: not as something the measurement found but as the other face of what the measurement disclosed.

HEAVEN STANDING OPEN
Heaven stands open in her mind if her soul is holy, and the conditional is not a sequence.
The holiness of the soul and the openness of Heaven in the mind are not two states to be moved between. They are one configuration, hosted in a body that carries all three principles, and the creature who hosts the doubleness is the creature in whom Heaven stands open. The standing-open is the hosting.
The Virtue is in the body she already has. The mind that is the Second Principle in her is operating now. The Light that constitutes the material Virtue she walks through is operating now.
There is nothing to acquire and nothing to wait for.

Every stone is a ray of it. Every creature is it, made material. The Sun is it, in the corruptible life, holding both faces at a temperature a body can bear.
What the forgetting does is not remove the Virtue, which cannot be removed, but crystallize one of its faces as the whole and call the other face nothing.
The Virtue is the recognition, and the recognition is the Virtue. In the configuration of remembering they are one act.
