Contraction, expansion and rotation organize, bound and orient. Two axes forcibly aligned produce a stable configuration: rigid, internally consistent, self-maintaining.
The trespass economy requires this. An operation harvesting the differential between what expression would have generated and what prevention generates in its name requires the prevention to hold its shape. The occupied positions must remain occupied. The backwards firing must repeat reliably.
Coherence is the name the generating function gives to the stability of its own occupation.

THE THREE MAINTAINING OPERATIONS
The temporal cut. Pattern across time rendered illegible. Each event isolated from the sequence that would reveal the operation as operation. Held together, last year and this year and a decade ago show the same trespass in different costume. Separated, each is clean, bounded, manageable. The coherence produced is the coherence of events that appear unrelated because the pattern relating them has been made inadmissible.
The observer interrogation. Perception operating in registers the four axes cannot carry is declared deficient. The creature who sees the pattern is told she is connecting things that are not connected. The creature who feels the trespass in her body before it is named in language is told she is being reactive. The creature who perceives the occupation from inside it, who knows what is operating because she is the one it is operating on, is told her proximity disqualifies her. The instruments agree because the instruments that would not agree have been disqualified.
The institutional virtue defense. Structural analysis converted into interpersonal accusation. The creature who says the coherence itself is the occupation's stability is told she is attacking the people who built it. The structural claim is received as personal attack, the builders' injury becomes the subject, and the configuration disappears from examination. The people's goodness becomes the shield that prevents the configuration from being named.

TWO COHERENCES
What the generating function calls coherence is the war body's stability. What the second law calls coherence is the Temperatur: the seven qualities tempered through actual fire, the unity that forms when the generating function yields rather than pushes.
The Temperatur bears scars. It cannot be reproduced or franchised. It is incommensurate with the other, because it formed on the far side of a threshold the generating function refuses to cross.
One is maintained. The other is forged.
And the difference is not visible from inside the generating function's coordinates. Both feel like integration. Both feel like arrival. The question is not what it feels like. The question is which side of the pivot the coherence formed on.

PREMATURE COHERENCE
The forge requires time. Not calendar time, but the time it takes for the generating function's resistance to exhaust itself at the pivot. The creature cannot accelerate this. The fire does not respond to urgency. What she can do is leave before the crossing completes.
The forge produces specific pressures: contradiction without resolution, the qualities turned against each other, the felt sense of dissolution without arrival. These are not symptoms of a problem. They are the forge's operation, and the creature experiencing them is in the right place.
The pressure to conclude is the mechanism. The generating function cannot yield, and it can produce a narrative of having yielded. The narrative feels like resolution. The resolution is the generating function in expression's positions, wearing completion's name, and she accepts it because the alternative is remaining in the fire, and the fire is genuinely painful.
Premature coherence is not false. Something real occurred: genuine heat, genuine dissolution, genuine reconfiguration. The coherence that arrived is the coherence of what actually happened up to the point of departure. The error is not in the experience. The error is in the timing.
Three signatures mark it. The conclusion satisfies, and underneath the satisfaction the body still carries a tension the mind has resolved, which is the residue of the incomplete crossing. The account cannot receive new information without shattering, because genuine arrival produces a coherence that can be revised, having formed on ground that is itself alive, and this one is brittle because it requires maintenance. And the aliveness stopped: something was moving, something was in formation, and then the account arrived and the movement ceased.

WHEN IT HARDENS
The gap between the account and the field widens. The account cannot be revised because it is now load-bearing: the institution, the community, the creature's own self-understanding rest on it. What arrived too early has become structural.
And that is the difference between the two. Premature coherence could in principle be reopened, the creature returning to the forge and the crossing resuming. This cannot. Too much has been built on it. The questions that would reopen it must be managed. The contradictions that would reveal it must be suppressed. And the creatures who still carry the tension the account did not resolve must be diagnosed, marginalized, or converted.

WHAT THE THREE OPERATIONS ARE FOR
The three maintaining operations are not a strategy. They are what hardened coherence generates automatically as self-defense.
The temporal cut makes pattern inadmissible, because pattern would show that the account stopped before it finished. The observer interrogation makes perception inadmissible, because perception operating in registers the account cannot carry would show its incompleteness. The institutional virtue defense makes structural analysis inadmissible, because structural analysis would show that the coherence is maintained rather than forged.
Three defenses, one operation. And the evidence is not abstract. The evidence is the creature who still carries the tension the account did not resolve. She is the forge's remainder, still present after the institution declared the crossing complete.
The three converge on her, not because they were designed for her, but because she is what the coherence cannot metabolize. She did not bring the tension. She carries what the account left behind, and her presence is the forensic record of the premature departure.

THE RECYCLING'S MOST EFFICIENT FORM
This is the recycling at its most efficient, precisely because the creature experienced genuine fire.
Her testimony is real. Her transformation was partial and actual. What she offers others is contact with something genuine: the heat, the dissolution of the generating function's hold, the beginning of the reconfiguration. The franchise is built on that authentic contact.
And the franchise delivers each new creature to the same threshold its holder departed from. The departure point becomes the curriculum's destination. What was a failure to complete the crossing becomes the definition of completion.
The somatic evidence confirms it. She enters, experiences genuine heat and dissolution, feels relief from the wheel, and feels better. The feeling-better is real, and the feeling-better is what is used to define the crossing as complete. She felt worse, then better, therefore transformation.
But what the forge produces does not feel like better. It feels like having crossed. The creature does not return to the comparison between the wheel and the occupied territory. She stands on ground that is neither, and the franchise cannot deliver that, because the franchise operates from the occupied territory's coordinates. It delivers her to the occupied territory and calls it the far side of the forge.

THE MOST STABLE INSTALLATION
This is the law of sin and death at its most durable. Not the crude occupation. The occupied territory that has forgotten it was occupied, that has built culture and institution and testimony and community on the story of its own arrival, and that generates structural hatred towards whatever would require it to return to the fire it declared itself beyond.
The remedy is not a better coherence.

The fire that hardened coherence most efficiently prevents is the fire it most efficiently imitates having already crossed.
And the creature who is the evidence of the incomplete crossing is not arguing with the account. She is standing where the account said no one would still be standing.
