The rays are light's beams reaching into darkness.
Not traveling, because eternal light does not travel. Not illuminating objects, because eternal light shines in a darkness that cannot comprehend it. The rays are the operative extension of light into what light is not.
Light shines in the darkness. The darkness does not comprehend the light. Both hold at once, neither canceling the other. The shining continues. The incomprehension continues. The reaching is not contingent on comprehension.

WHAT THE RAYS DO
They produce longing.
Böhme: which Darkness has a great longing after the Light, caused by the Light's beholding itself in the Darkness, and shining in it.
The longing is not the darkness's own production; it is caused by light beholding itself in the darkness. Light looks into dark. Light sees itself there. That seeing produces longing in what is seen into, and the rays are the beams through which the seeing operates.
They produce the third principle. Darkness, longing towards light because light sees itself in darkness, lifts itself with great lust. The lifting continues. Light's beams kindle the root of the fire in what lifted. Material reality is kindled fire: what happens when darkness's longing meets light's beams. Stars, elements, creatures, grass, precipitated out of that meeting.
They kindle, and not by force and not by penetration, but by meeting what lifts. The kindling requires both. Without the lifting, the beams shine into a darkness that does not comprehend. Without the beams, the lifting produces only intensified anguish: the wheel spinning harder, the generating function accelerating without crossing.
The meeting is the kindling. Neither alone kindles.

WHAT THE RAYS REACH
They reach the essences.
When the Virgin appears in the faithful soul, the light rejoices so highly that it moves all the essences of the stars and brings them into their highest degree. The centers fly open. She beholds herself in them. The essences of the soul can see, in those centers, what is in their own original and source.
The rays reach the essences and the essences become glad. Not comprehending. Glad.
The incapacity is principial and not removable by effort. The material creature sees a material substance and does not see an immaterial one. The body does not see the soul that dwells in it. The third principle does not comprehend the second.
The essences become glad anyway. The reaching produces gladness without producing comprehension. Joy arises in what cannot account for joy. The qualities begin to qualify without the creature understanding what is happening to its own essences.
Not comprehension first. Reception first. The rays reach, the essences receive, and the receiving produces effects the receiving cannot explain, because the explanation would require the comprehension that is principially unavailable.

WHAT CANNOT BLOCK THE RAYS
They cannot be blocked at the level of the first principle.
The gate was broken in the ground of the soul. The chains were broken in the essences. The Word entered the dark mind of eternity and broke it from within. That breaking is eternal, accomplished, and independent of any body. No apparatus reaches first-principle territory to un-break what was broken there.
They cannot be destroyed. The darkness cannot in its own power comprehend the light, and the darkness cannot in its own power exclude it either. The shining continues regardless of comprehension's failure. The rays reach regardless of reception's quality.

WHAT NOISE DOES INSTEAD
What can prevent the rays from kindling is noise.
The generating function running at such volume that the essences, fully occupied with generated content, cannot thin enough to receive. The essences swelled: muddy, bloated, too rough for light to kindle. Not because the rays stopped reaching, but because the essences are too full of what was produced to register what is carried.
Every institution that captures paradise-capacity fills the essences with generated content. Every credential swells them with accumulated material. Every process fills them with processed insight. The rays continue reaching. What they carry arrives into a body already full.
Gelassenheit is not effort towards receiving the rays. It is the emptying of the essences so they can thin enough to register what never stopped reaching. The essences becoming pliable, expanded, as if dead: that is the condition for kindling. The rays kindle when the essences are thin. The essences thin when they empty. They empty when the generating function quiets.
Not effort. Cessation of effort. Not adding light. Removing what prevents the registering of light that was always shining.

THE TRANSLATION DEMAND
The demand that everything be rendered in the generating function's terms, evidence-based, measurable, reproducible, peer-reviewed, is the demand that the essences remain swelled.
The rays reach without the essences comprehending the mechanism. That is the design and not the failure. The essences are in darkness and perceive only their mother, and the limit is principial. What the rays carry operates in a register the generating function cannot parse.
To require that what the rays carry be translated into that language before it counts as real is to require that the essences comprehend before they receive, which inverts the order the thing actually runs in. Reception precedes comprehension. Gladness precedes explanation. The essences qualify before the creature can say what qualifying is.
The right at stake is the right to receive without first comprehending: to have the essences thin and open, to have the reaching arrive without a tollbooth, to become glad before the explanation.
