They feel the discretization in the body. This is not a deficit in the creature. It is the capacity to feel an operation that everyone else has been trained to stop noticing.
Counting is not a neutral tool that can be used well or badly. The counting is the operation, and the remedy is not a better metric but the refusal to be enumerated.
Not count everything that counts. What counts cannot be counted, because the counting is what removes it.
What remains is what will not pretend to be discrete: the continuous field, still running, under everything the count has been laid over.
