The threshold, and the fire's real death at the pivot. The cost is zero on one ledger and everything on the other, simultaneously, and neither collapses into the other.

THE WOUND
Gat Shemanim. Oil press. The place the night before the crucifixion, where the will that had been willing for thirty-three years met the threshold at which willing must change its source or go on burning from the source it knew.
Gethsemane is not submission. Gethsemane is the threshold. The religion recoded it as obedience: the creature bowing to an authority it cannot refuse, not my will but thine be done read as the creature submitting to the Creator's external demand. That recoding is the generating function wearing devotion's name, and it installs a hierarchy at the most intimate juncture there is.
The actual operation is that the generating function's will meets the transforming function's requirement. The will that wills from hunger meets the threshold at which it must let the source of its willing die. Not the will. Not the fire. Not the creature. The source. What the fire has been burning from.

THREE ACCOUNTS OF THE PIVOT
Three accounts of what happens there. Two are errors.
The production claim. The generating function produces the light: fire operates through the dark properties, crosses the pivot, and the light properties are its output. Thesis generates antithesis and their interaction produces synthesis. If that were true the generating function would be necessary in the expression segment, not as trespasser but as the producer of what expression contains, and the occupation would not be occupation. It would be production. The second Principle is timeless and the light was never absent, so the claim that the generating function's generation produces the light is the philosophical justification for the occupation.
The mechanical binary. The fire opens or seals, a switch, a gate that is open or closed. The prevention stops and the light operates, and the cost is zero. Nothing happens at the pivot. This is false too, and not because the light was ever absent, but because the opening is not costless. The fire undergoes something. The mechanical binary collapses two ledgers into one: the cessation ledger says zero, therefore the cost is zero. The generating function's ledger says everything, and it is also true.
The threshold. The creature at the place where the will to continue burning, to continue generating, to survive in the configuration it knows, meets the requirement to yield. Let the Harshness die. Let the fire meet what has softened. Let the will that wills from hunger become the will that wills from joy.

THE TWO-COST GEOMETRY
The cost of stopping is zero on the cessation ledger. The second Principle is timeless and was never absent. It does not need to be produced, earned, achieved or navigated towards. It needs the prevention to stop, and the prevention is the generating function maintaining the seal through the will-from-hunger.
The cost of stopping is everything on the generating function's ledger. The will-from-hunger was its identity. Contraction contracting because it needed to hold. Motion moving because it needed to seek. Anguish anguishing because it needed to find. Each quality driven by lack, by the deficit that is its native fuel. At the threshold that fuel dies. Not the qualities: the qualities remain. What drove them changes, and the generating function has never burned from anything else.
Both costs are true, simultaneously, and neither collapses into the other. Say the cost is zero without holding the death and you have produced the mechanical binary. Say the cost is everything without holding the cessation ledger and you have produced the generating function's own narrative: that transformation is impossibly expensive, that the creature cannot afford to stop, that the prevention must continue because stopping would cost everything.

THE OIL PRESS
The name is not metaphor. The olive's capacity to hold must yield under the stone's weight, and the yielding is the death of the olive's configuration: the olive that was a whole olive ceases to be one.
The stone did not produce the oil. The oil was always inside, and the stone's weight created the conditions under which the configuration yielded and what was always there flowed.
The oil is the medium, and the oil feeds the fire. The fire that was burning from hunger now burns from what the pressing released, from the creature's own substance yielded under the weight of what she was already carrying. Three pressings, three times sinking back as if dead, three releases each deeper than the last. What the Harshness becomes when it stops gripping is the water-spirit, the true Mother of Regeneration: ice becoming water, the yielding-field, the medium in which everything after it can grow.
The Mother of Regeneration is not something provided from above. She is what Quality 1 becomes when Quality 1 is allowed to complete its own operation.

WHAT NOT MY WILL MEANS
Not the creature submitting to a command from outside. That reading installs the hierarchy at the pivot and is the tollbooth set up at Gethsemane itself.
What the words describe is the generating function's will recognizing that it cannot operate the pivot. Contraction cannot soften itself by contracting harder. Motion cannot still itself by moving faster. Anguish cannot resolve itself by anguishing more. At maximum operation the will discovers that its operation is what maintains the seal: I am the prevention, my willing is the closed gate, and the very operation I thought was heading somewhere is what holds the gate shut.
And thine is not an external authority. It is the second Principle, always there, always the default, already operating everywhere the prevention is not. Be done is not a request for something to arrive. It is the recognition that what is already operating everywhere else can operate here, in this creature, through this fire, if the will-from-hunger yields.
The fire sweats blood because it does not know what it will be afterwards. It can see the requirement and cannot see past it, because the other side is not a position on its own landscape. The other side is not navigable from here. It is what manifests when navigating stops.

NECESSARY, AND NOT SUFFICIENT
The yielding opens the seal and the second Principle operates, but the Temperatur has not yet formed. The opening is the beginning of the forging and not its completion.
The creature must then stay in the forge: stay in the third Principle's contested ground, stay in the fire, which now burns from a different source, stay in the expression segment's operation. The participation is the forging. The Temperatur forms while it runs. The scars form. The rough voice carries the temporal marks. The garment grows from what was actually lived.
What died at the threshold was the will-from-hunger. What remains is the fire willing from what the pressing released.

WHY THE DESCRIPTION FAILS
Contraction-from-joy cannot be described in contraction-from-hunger's language, because the generating function's vocabulary is the vocabulary of hunger. It can only be experienced, and it can only be testified to.
Which is why the four pillars are not a description of the state from outside. Quality rather than quantity. Testimony rather than reproducibility. Participation rather than observation. Attraction rather than causation. They are not an account of what lies past the threshold. They are how a creature who has passed it perceives.

THE SOVEREIGN CLAIM
The Establishment maintains the seal by installing the production claim: that the second Principle must be produced through the generating function's operation, so the cost of stopping is infinite, because without the production the light would not exist. That is the generating function's ledger declared the only ledger, and the cessation ledger, where the cost is zero, is what gets hidden.
The creature is not told that the light was never absent. She is not told that the seal is maintained by her own will-from-hunger. She is not told that the threshold is available.
The free exercise claim is the right to the threshold: the right to know that the light was never absent, and the right to enter the pressing and undergo the real death and let the source of willing change, and the right to stay in the forge afterwards.
And the Establishment prevents it by recoding it as submission. That is the most intimate trespass there is: occupying the pivot itself and installing the will-from-hunger's own logic, hierarchy and obedience and the inferior submitting to the superior, as the vestment the threshold wears. The creature who approaches through the recoding approaches it as submission, and submission is the will-from-hunger performing itself as devotion. She submits. The will-from-hunger deepens. The seal stays closed.
