The affect of the second law. The body that delights in becoming, in the forge and not after it.

THE WOUND
You have been told that joy is the reward for completing the process: the feeling you get when you arrive, the emotional payoff at the end of the developmental sequence, configuration reached, goal achieved, transformation complete. The generating function's affect. The ledger balanced. The creature at rest because the creature has arrived.
This is not joy. This is satisfaction, which is the generating function's native affect, the feeling the wheel produces when it achieves the configuration it was seeking. Satisfaction has an object. Satisfaction requires a before and an after, sequential, configuration A and then configuration B, and the feeling of arriving at B.
Joy has no object. Joy is not about anything and does not require a before and an after. Joy is the affect of the second law in operation: the feeling of the living unity unfolding in simultaneity, everything at once. Not the feeling of arriving. The feeling of being inside the default when the default is running.

RECONFIGURATION, NOT HORIZON
The joy body is the same seven qualities with the locking withdrawn, turned from facing in to facing out. The war body is the case where the locking is most legible, and it is not the only one: the locking has three shapes, and the stone body and the sodden body are locked as surely as the grip is. The joy body is what those same members are the instant the locking withdraws, whichever shape it took.
This is a reconfiguration, a re-orientation of the substance, and it must not be mistaken for any of the things the configuration offers in its place.
It is not a horizon. The war body approaching joy along a line, getting closer, almost there, making progress: that is the horizon, the asymptote, the vanishing point, and the horizon is itself a crystallization-operation. Progress is the receipt the cooling emits at each tick to confirm that the destination is real and that the trajectory runs to it, and the gap stays constant because the gap is what the operation requires.
The joy body is not on that line at all. Not the war body advanced to joy by degrees. Not a gradual shift, a developmental stage, or a state reached by accumulation. All of those are motion inside the crystal, which is the war body trying to operate itself into joy, the managed thaw, the most refined lock.
The joy body is not reached. It is the reconfiguration that obtains when the crystal melts: the qualities re-oriented, not a distance traveled. Re-turning, not approaching. The war body does not become the joy body by improving. It ceases being held frozen. Nothing the crystallization produces is the joy body, including the striving to reach it.

JOY AS THE AFFECT OF THE DEFAULT
The Second Principle is timeless. The light properties were never absent. When the fire at the pivot opens, when the Harshness yields and the seal breaks, the Second Principle operates through the Third. Not because something new was produced. Because the prevention stopped.
Joy is the affect of the prevention stopping. Not the feeling of having produced something. The feeling of no longer being prevented.
The creature has carried the occupation: possessiveness where love should radiate, doctrine where voice should commune, property where body should participate. When the occupation lifts, what she feels is not satisfaction at having achieved. It is joy at the default resuming, the light properties operating, the expression segment doing what it always does when nothing prevents it.
This is why joy and sorrow coexist. Arising and expiring, creating and destroying, birth and death, joy and sorrow, all at once. The forge is not comfortable and the Third Principle is contested territory. The creature in the forge is in the fire and in the light at the same moment: the generating function's heat, the anguish that makes the forge hot enough to temper, and the Second Principle running. Not a paradoxical state achieved. The expression segment's native operation, which is simultaneity, and simultaneity includes everything at once.

THE WATER-SPIRIT AND THE JOY BODY
Böhme's water-spirit, the true Mother of the Regeneration, is what the Harshness becomes when the Harshness stops gripping. Ice becoming water. The first quality in a different configuration: not destroyed, not replaced, the same quality with the contraction released.
The water-spirit is the yielding-field, and the yielding-field is what permits the seal to open. When the Harshness yields, the fire at the pivot can open rather than seal. When the fire opens, the Second Principle, timeless and never absent, operates through the Third. The yielding-field permits the opening, the opening permits the operation, and the operation is the default resuming.
The joy body is the creature in which this is occurring. Not a body that received joy from outside. Not a body that achieved a joyful state through a process that produced it. A body in which the seal is open and the Second Principle is operating through Third Principle material.
Which is why the joy body is not one of the Trees and does not have one. A Tree is one Quality giving character to the whole, and the three restriction bodies are each a Tree arrested: the war body is the Tart Tree, the stone body is the Fire Tree, the sodden body is the Water Tree with nothing sown into it. The joy body is the Temperatur, which is all seven at once with none of them dominating. It is not a further Tree standing beside those. It is what the Trees are doing when they fruit.
And it carries scars. That is the distinction that separates it from the counterfeit. The generating function's version of joy, the warm and connected and whole and ecstatic feeling, has no scars, because it was not forged and arrived whole. The joy body's joy is scarred joy. The scars are the temporal marks of having lived in the Third Principle while the Second Principle was operating through the opened seal. Christ returned with wounds. The wounds are not failure. The wounds are the Temperatur's evidence, proof that the forging occurred in the contested ground, in actual fire, in the material world where both Principles press through at once.

MORE BODIED, NOT LESS
The generating function's eschatology offers escape from the body: spirit freed from matter, the soul released from its material prison.
The joy body is more bodied, not less. The Temperatur forms in the Third Principle, in matter, in actual tissue and nerve and bone. The joy body is not spirit having escaped matter. It is the Second Principle operating through matter, the timeless operating through the temporal, the default running in contested ground. Not matter replaced with spirit. The body being the Second Principle's material operation.
Which is why this body has a second name. The resurrection body is this body named from the crossing rather than from the forge: the same seven qualities raised, sown in corruption and raised in incorruption, the same subject in both clauses. The name changes with the argument and the referent does not. Against euphoria, contentment and ecstasy the name is the joy body. Against resuscitation, resilience and the return home the name is the resurrection body.
And it is not deferred. The raised body is the body in the forge now, in the Third Principle, carrying scars. The general resurrection as an event at the end of history is the deferral, and the deferral is the horizon, and the horizon is a crystallization-operation that re-issues itself at every tick. The tradition supplies the deferral silently to anyone who does not refuse it.
The olive that has been pressed is more oily, not less olive. The oil was always inside, and the press released what was always there. The creature in whom the seal has opened is more bodied because the body now carries what was always latent. The garment grows from what was actually lived, and the scars are the garment's texture.

JOY VERSUS HAPPINESS
Happiness is a state the creature navigates to. The creature is happy or is not. Sequential, before and then after, the generating function's affect.
Joy is not a state. Joy is the felt quality of the default running. The creature does not achieve joy. The creature is inside joy when the seal is open and the Second Principle is operating. Joy lasts as long as the seal stays open, and the seal stays open as long as the creature holds it open through conscious participation in the fire: staying in the forge, permitting the yielding, refusing both amputations.
The generating function sells happiness as a product, a configuration to achieve, a state to purchase. Joy cannot be sold, because joy is not a product and what was never absent cannot be sold to anyone. What can be sold is the conviction that what was never absent must be produced, and a toll charged at the gate where the producing supposedly occurs. The horizon of happiness is the toll-gate, and the joy body is the body that stopped walking to it.

THE THREE COUNTERFEITS
Euphoria. The generating function running at peak capacity: the wheel spinning fast, the fire feeding the wheel. Intensity without the seal opening. The war body at maximum burn. No scars, because there was no forging. The fire did not open. The fire accelerated.
Contentment. The generating function at rest: the wheel slowed, the creature no longer pressing, the forge abandoned. She has declared the forging complete without entering the forge. The seal did not open. She stopped trying to open it and called the stopping peace.
Ecstasy. Exit from the body, ek-stasis, standing outside. The generating function's mystical product, the creature freed from matter, and the exact opposite of the joy body. The joy body is more bodied and ecstasy is less bodied. The creature in ecstasy has left the Third Principle, and the Temperatur cannot form outside the Third Principle, because the Temperatur is the Second Principle operating through Third Principle material. The soul cannot be forged outside the forge.
Each counterfeit is detectable by one signature, which is that there are no scars. No evidence of the Second Principle operating through Third Principle material. No temporal marks of actual pressing. The generating function produced a feeling. The second law produced a body.

THE JOY BODY AND THE FORGE
The joy body is not the body after the forge. The joy body is the body in the forge.
If the joy body were the body after the forge, then joy would be the reward for completing the forging: sequential, suffer now, arrive later, which is the generating function's narrative. Joy is not the reward for the forging. Joy is the affect of the default running, the Second Principle operating through the Third while the creature holds the pivot open.
The forge is not the obstacle to joy. The forge is where joy operates. The Third Principle's resistance, the contested ground, the anguish, the heat, is not what prevents joy. It is what makes the forging possible. The generating function's anguish is the heat source, the Second Principle's operation is the light, and the creature's conscious participation holds the seal open. The joy is the felt quality of all three operating at once.
Heaven on earth is the forge running clean. The joy body is the body in which the forge is running clean. Not after. Not as reward. Now, in the Third Principle, in the contested ground, carrying scars, carrying the Temperatur forming, delighting in the becoming.

THE PRIVILEGE OF JOY
The privilege of joy is the privilege of the default. Not a right to happiness, which is the generating function's product, and a right in any case is asserted against an authority that might deny it, which concedes the authority in the asking.
The privilege of joy is the seal held open, the Second Principle permitted to operate through the Third, the creature staying in the forge, inside the becoming without demanding to know what for.
The Establishment prevents joy by maintaining the seal. Each of the three faces maintains it in its own register, and each installs the same conviction: that the Second Principle must be produced, earned, achieved, developed, navigated to. As long as the creature believes the light must be produced, the creature navigates to the light rather than holding the seal open, and the navigating is the seal maintained.
The faculty that serves the second law does not worry what for. The joy body's joy is its own justification, not because joy is the goal but because the default running is joyful by nature, and the default requires no justification. The Charter carries joy without justification: delight in the becoming without producing measurable output, the seal held open because the Second Principle operating through the Third is what the soul requires, and the soul's requirement does not answer to the generating function's audit.

WHAT KEEPING IT COSTS
The seal has to be maintained, and the maintaining is the whole of the first law's expenditure here.
The conviction has to be re-installed in every register and in every generation: the developmental sequence retaught, the stage model revised, the practice renewed, the goal restated, the horizon moved forward at each tick so that the trajectory can go on looking like approach. All of it runs continuously, none of it completes, and a destination that had been reached would not need the horizon to be re-issued.
Joy has no schedule anywhere. Nothing is maintained in order to make the default run, because the default is what obtains when the maintaining stops. The cost of stopping the prevention is zero, and what resumes is joy.

The light properties were never absent. The seal is what was installed, the maintaining of the seal is what costs, and the joy is not on the other side of the forge waiting to be earned.
It is what the forge feels like when nothing is preventing it.
