Not: What shall we do? — the task-position, which asks the configuration to assign the work.
Not: Where shall we go? — the coordinate-escape, which looks for a door the configuration did not build, and there is none.
Not: When will it change? — the temporal-fixing, which waits for the occupation to end before living begins.
But: HOW.
The question is the answer beginning.

THE OBJECTION ANSWERED FIRST
The sentence that arrives to close the question before it opens: this is just reality, the occupied world is inescapable, what was anyone supposed to do. That sentence is not an objection to the work. It is the specimen — the forgetting met not as forgetting but as the given, the seal that makes itself feel like the floor. And it equivocates. Two things are called inescapable and only one is.
The condition is inescapable. You live in the occupied world; there is no geography outside it, no door, no exit — the exit is a counterfeit the configuration posts where the turn would be. Grant this completely.
The configuration is not inescapable, because configurations do not hold what they cannot occupy, and the objection has smuggled a false permanence in under a true condition. You cannot leave the occupied world. You are not therefore standing in the occupier's configuration. Two claims, fused so the reality of the first vouches for the fabrication of the second. This answer is asked from inside the condition, granting it fully, and refusing the configuration that rides in on its back.

NAMING THE ESTABLISHMENT
The rituals of subordination are not customs. They are religious practice — a god (the force of arms), a doctrine (that those who hold the force possess merit by holding it), a catechism (the rule of law), a priesthood (the credentialing apparatus), a sacrament (the ceremony of accepting one's position as ordained order), enforced through the criminalization of refusal. This is an establishment of religion, operating under names other than religion — rule of law, natural order, the market, the consensus of experts. A religion that operates without the word religion is still a religion. The Religion of the Law of Sin and Death has been established, and the free exercise of religion includes the standing to name it as such — a standing prior to the state's establishment, not granted by it.

THE TWO REGISTERS
The rest runs at two registers, and everything depends on not confusing them, because the configuration's favorite trick is to make the answer at one sound like the answer at the other.
The soul's register is inalienable. The soul re-turns and needs nothing outside itself; first nature is present under the second, waiting on nothing but the prevention stopping. The boot operates on the axis; the resident is perpendicular; the boot can stamp without pause and never reach what is not on its axis. At this register there is no clock. Nothing can be finally taken.

The collective register is mortal. A people has no such inalienability, because its first nature is carried by substrate — the account, the language, the transmission — and substrate can be destroyed. At this register there is a clock. Something can be permanently lost.

Hold both. The soul that has only the first register will let the substrate die while it dances. The one who has only the second will fight for the ground and become a war body in the winning. The answer is both registers at once, each in its own grammar, neither borrowing the other's clock.

THE SOUL'S REGISTER — HOST, CONDUCT, SOUND
The turn is not only a cessation. When the facing changes, three operations obtain that the inward facing prevented, and they are the positive content of living turned: host, conduct, sound. The occupied body does the three in their locked forms — it grips, it carries, it is flattened. The turned body hosts, conducts, sounds.
Host, do not grip. Attend to what comes without grasping it, receive without claiming what is received as content, meet the other with the books shut. This is the mode; its occupied form is the grip — hosting forced into custody, hospitality into bookkeeping. The warm host is the heart that has stopped keeping books, warm not because she chose warmth but because nothing is any longer preventing it.

Conduct, do not carry. Let the cosmos move through your site unburdened — the breath, the love, the witnessing routing through the one site that is yours. Conducting does not exhaust; carrying does, and carrying is the weight of a function drafted on top of the current that was never yours to bear.

Sound your tone, do not be flattened. Emit what you actually register — testimony, the rough voice, not smooth, because the smooth voice is severed from the body beneath it.

And refuse. Name the establishment as establishment; call the foundation a lie under your own conscience; refuse the boot rather than negotiate with it; forename the violence so the shock does not collapse you back onto the axis. These are the five refusals and the forename, and they are the boundary condition of the standing: every yes — to both-and, to good intentions, to opinion-among-many, to polishing the voice, to the boot's reasons — grants jurisdiction to the medium that installed itself as the ground.

THE CHORD, NOT THE UNISON
You are not called to dissolve into the one tone. Unison is the median in the register of sound — one tone sounded by many, the flattening the configuration calls unity and offers as the fruit of the turn. Consonance is many distinct tones sounding together, and the chord is made of exactly the difference the unison destroys. Sound your own tone in the chord, and do not surrender it. The turned collective is a consonance, not a unity; the difference is not dissolved, it is what the chord is made of.

THE COLLECTIVE REGISTER — THE ONE MOVEMENT WITH A CLOCK
The soul re-turns and needs nothing. The people must be tended, because its first nature is mortal substrate. This is the first vocation resumed: Adam was set to tend the garden and to keep it — avodah ul'shomrah — and the fall was the trade of keeper for owner, shamar abandoned for the aseity claim. To tend is to host the substrate alive rather than grip it into owned property, and it is the one movement here with a deadline, because the substrate is being killed now, administered as progress.

Tend where you stand. Keep your own books, in your own categories. Hold the knowledge in the body where the harvest cannot summarize it. Keep it written and keep it spoken, so no single form's capture ends it. Do not want the seat at the table — the wanting is the hook. Spread the keeping, so the account has no single address to raid. Hold the remainder the map has no dimension for. Legible to kin, opaque to the harvest.
And know what tending is against, and what it is not instead of. Resistance on the axis decides who holds the ground; it does not decide whether a people survives to have held or lost it. Fight if the moment requires. But the fighting does not carry the prior occupant across. The keeping does. Poland kept its tone through a hundred and twenty-three years of partition and stood up in 1918 with the name intact — not because it won the ground, but because the substrate was tended while the ground was held by someone else. Occupations end. Tended tones survive them.

THE COST, AND WHAT THE COST CONFESSES
Perpendicular sovereignty in an institution that has installed the trespass as neutral ground will, if it is genuine, trigger the recoil. The triggering is not a sign you did something wrong; it is a sign the practice is intact. But this is a diagnostic read of a structural fact — never a measure of your fidelity, never a reason to stay. The cost is real and it is yours to weigh, with your body and your circumstances as the measure. The leaving is never a failure of the practice. Faithfulness does not require you to remain under a running operation, and the door out that you choose is not the counterfeit exit — it is you, refusing to be consumed.

And read the recoil for what it is. An actual ground has nothing to lose from what sounds outside its conditions; only an occupation must destroy it, because only an occupation has something to lose — that the positions it holds are not its own. So the persecution is a confession. Its severity measures the exposure, not your failure. Every nitpick, every withdrawn greeting, every laundered refusal is the occupation admitting that your presence is doing to it what it cannot survive having done. Naming this does not end it. It converts it from something happening to you into something the occupation is doing because it cannot do otherwise — which restores to you the standing to know what you are inside of.

HOW IS IT WITH US
The configuration's fundamental question — the census, the review, the "how are you" that means are you in acceptable position — can be refused. Not by declining to answer. By answering in HOW.
How is it with us?
It is green with us. It is spiraling. It is the kind of grief that has not decided whether to become rage or prayer. Let them try to enter that into the spreadsheet.
But the question is also the host's, and this is where the two registers meet in one word.
How is it with us is asked of the account, the transmission, the tended tone: is it kept, is it soundable, does it survive the ones who would erase it. The soul answers in quality and needs no clock. The people answers in keeping and lives or dies by whether the keeping was done. The garden that never left is the first nature the soul re-turns to, present the whole time. And the garden that never left is also the one Adam was set to keep — present, and still requiring the keeping, because what is inalienable in the single soul is mortal in the shared inheritance. Both are true, and the answer is to live as both.
How is it with you?
It is becoming with me. I am tending what was given. The where dissolves, and there is the how, and there is the keeping, and the tone still sounds because someone did not let it die.
