I. Quality Two Predominating
When Bitterness gives character to the whole Tree, every Quality carries the sting of motion. Contraction stings. Fire stings. Even Love, even Water, carry the prick of the quality that cannot rest. The fugitive quality. What refuses containment. What breaks and stings so very hard in the Attracting that it stirs up the Heat wherein the Flash springs up.
The Bitter Tree is the reaching. The gall. The quality that drives the sequence forward. Without the Bitter Tree, nothing would move. Contraction would contract forever without interruption. The Wheel would never generate the friction that produces the Flash. The Bitter Tree IS the motion that carries the kindling-source to the pivot.
The Bitter Tree's Center awakens in its own Quality — self-igniting through its own restlessness, through the sting that will not settle, through the motion that refuses to be still. This is not evil. This is the second Quality in legitimate operation: the reaching, the desiring, the movement toward what attracts.

II. The Sting
When the Bitter Tree predominates without Light, the reaching never arrives.
The sting keeps stinging. The motion keeps moving. The restlessness that should carry nutrients to the pivot instead disperses energy in every direction. The fugitive quality becomes the quality that flees everything, settles nowhere, reaches for the next thing before the reaching for this thing has completed. The Bitter Tree without Light produces seeking without finding. Navigation without arrival. The recycling at the quality level — same reaching, same sting, same motion, new object.
This is what trespass theology does to bitterness. Don't be bitter. Sever the kindling-source. Remove the gall. The creature told its own reaching is the problem. The creature told its own sting is disease. But the sting IS the kindling-source. The gall IS what kindles when it meets the yielded field. Without the Bitter Tree's motion, the kindling sequence cannot proceed. The heart cannot warm. The throat cannot open. The creature whose bitterness has been severed is a creature without access to the motion that would carry Fire to the pivot.
The neutering severs at both ends. Don't cry prevents the yielding-field (the Tart Tree's softening). Don't be bitter prevents the kindling-source (the Bitter Tree's motion). The closed throat is not blocked. It is unfed. Two Trees severed from the sequence that would have produced the Shriek.

III. Joy Hidden in the Sting
Böhme's confession: “the Bitterness may be rightly called Joy, for it is the Rising or Moving.”
Not: Bitterness carries joy-character, the way tart Fire is still Fire but tart. The names become interchangeable. What was the second Quality — the stinging, the pricking, the restless motion — IS Joy. Not transformed into joy. Revealed as what Joy always was.
The Rising that felt like torment was Joy operating in a field that could not recognize it.
This is the retcon that dissolves the therapeutic vestment's capture of bitterness. The therapeutic vestment treats bitterness as pathology to be processed, regulated, released. But bitterness is the Rising. The same motion. The same sting. Revealed, when Light kindles, as indistinguishable from Joy. The creature who “processed” its bitterness processed the kindling-source. The creature who “released” its bitterness released the motion that would have carried Fire to the pivot.
The Bitter Tree is not enemy.
The Bitter Tree is the quality the cheaper rate most urgently needs the creature to sever — because the Bitter Tree's motion, meeting the Tart Tree's yielded field, produces the Shriek that transforms Fire into Light. The rough voice carries the roughness of the gall.
The odious messenger's odiousness IS bitterness arriving in rooms that paid to have their bitterness removed.
