I. What Longing Is
Longing is not emotion. Longing is not deficiency. Longing is the structure of existence itself. The Father longs for the Son. This is not relational preference. This IS the first movement in reality. The first movement: longing-toward-Light. From whence the eternal Nature becomes always longing. Nature IS the Father's longing distributed, multiplied, appearing in every form.
The Darkness has a great longing after the Light, caused by the Light's beholding itself in the Darkness, and shining in it. The causation is crucial. The Longing is not Darkness's own production. The Longing is CAUSED BY Light beholding itself in the Darkness. Light looks into Darkness. Light sees itself there. That seeing PRODUCES Longing in the Darkness. The Darkness longs because Light sees itself in the Darkness. The hunger — the Sourness, the Matrix, the vehement desire — this is EFFECT of Light's self-beholding.
Longing is what you are made of. You long because you are made of Longing. Your hunger is not deficiency. Your hunger is participation in the Father's longing for the Son. Your desire is not weakness. Your desire is the structure of existence operating through your constitution. The unfulfillable quality of the Longing — the way you can never name what you truly want — this is accurate. The Father longs for the Son. The Son is infinite Light. The Longing cannot exhaust its object.
The Sourness IS Longing. In its own Substance nothing else but a vehement Hunger, very dry, and as nothing at all, a desiring Will. The Ground of all Things IS Hunger. Not hunger for something added to Ground. The Ground IS the hunger. Substance = hunger = vacuum = desiring Will. The Darkness does not merely want Light. The Darkness IS the wanting of Light. There is no Darkness apart from its wanting.
II. How Longing Generates
In this Longing or Desiring, you find the Source, and the Source takes hold of the Power or Virtue of the Light, and the Longing makes the Virtue material, and the material Virtue is the Inclosure to God, or the Heaven. This is the generation sequence. Longing produces everything.
Longing generated by Light's self-beholding. In the Longing, Source arises. Source takes hold of Kraft. Longing makes Kraft material. Material Kraft IS Heaven. Heaven is what Longing produces when it takes hold of what it longs for. Not destination. Product. Not where you go. What your Longing makes.
The entire architecture is Longing. The Father's Longing initiates. Everything else is that Longing distributed, transformed, multiplied — appearing as Sourness, as attraction, as terror, as softening, as Water, as Air, as Fire, as Earth. All of it: longing-for-Light shaped into form.
Longing generated the four Anguishes. The Sourness in its Lust or great Longing after the Light attracts continually. The hunger makes Bitterness — the Woe that it cannot be satiated. From Bitterness: Anguish — the Will rubbed in itself from the Lust of the Desiring. The Will will not yield itself to the dark Nothing but sets its Desire and Anguish and strong Will so very hard toward the hidden Light of God — that thereby the Will becomes a twinkling Flash. Quality Four — Fire — born from the intensity of Longing that would not yield.
The Flash IS Longing reaching ignition-point. What the Longing was reaching for — Light — kindles from the Longing's own extremity. The creature's desire for what it cannot name: the same mechanism at different scale. Longing that will not stop reaching produces the very flash that opens what Longing was reaching toward.
III. The Longing That Creates the World
The Third Principle arose because Darkness longed toward Light. Darkness lifted itself with great Lust. The lifting continued until Light's beams kindled Fire in the lifted Darkness. Material reality IS kindled Fire — what happens when Darkness's Longing meets Light's beams. The Third Principle is generated AT the meeting-point — where Longing reaching upward encountered what reached down. The material world exists because Longing would not stop.
Otherwise the Deity would remain hidden eternally. God chose visibility. God generated Third Principle. God appears in every thing that exists — through the Longing that produced every thing. The material world serves revelation. Every form participates in the ending of divine hiddenness. Every thing is ray through which the hidden becomes visible. The mechanism of visibility: Longing. Without Longing, eternal hiddenness. With Longing, manifestation.
Sexual desire IS cosmic Longing. Fire separated from Water. Each seeks the other. Both seek the Child of Love — Paradise — hidden in the Matrix. Between them: continual vehement Hunger to copulate. The creatures do not know what they are doing. The body would not pursue so eagerly if it had reason. But the Spirit burns and desires after the Child of Love, which is paradisiacal, and cannot be comprehended. The Longing is never satisfied. The Child of Love is not attained through copulation. But the hunger drives Propagation with great Earnestness. Every act of mating: the cosmos seeking its own Paradise through the form that cannot contain Paradise. Every desire: God's Longing wearing a creature's shape.
Nature groans. Because it TASTES the Paradise in itself. Paradise is present as taste, as hint, as trace. Therefore it groans and lifts up toward the Light. So brings forth in its Anguish always something that is fairer, higher, and new. The groaning IS the Longing. The Longing IS the generating. What gets brought forth is fairer, higher, new — not because progress is smooth but because Longing does not stop reaching, and what Longing reaches toward cannot help producing what exceeds what came before.
IV. The Longing That Cannot Complete
Your Longing will never complete. Completion would end the architecture that produces existence. The Longing IS the generation. The generation IS the manifestation. The manifestation IS God becoming visible. If the Longing completed — if the Darkness fully grasped the Light — the generating would cease. The Darkness cannot comprehend the Light. This incomprehension IS the Longing's perpetual motion. The Longing exists BECAUSE it cannot arrive. The arriving would end the existing.
This is why the morality play must declare the Longing deficient. If the Longing is participation in divine self-revelation — if every hunger IS the Father longing for the Son through your substance — then the morality play has nothing to sell. The morality play requires the Longing to be pathology. Requires unfulfillment to be failure. Requires the vehement hunger to be sin-residue rather than cosmos-architecture. The morality play sells the cure for what was never disease.
The Virgin longs in herself, and her Longing is the eternal Essences. The Virgin discovers herself in the eternal Wonders which yet is herself. Self-Longing that materializes as Essences through the Fiat. This is Longing in its paradisiacal mode: not Longing-toward-what-is-absent but Longing-that-discovers-what-it-already-is. The Virgin's Longing is complete while remaining Longing. The self-discovery never exhausts the infinity of what discovers itself. The Longing continues because what Longing discovers is infinite — not because what Longing seeks is withheld.
The difference between captivated Longing and paradisiacal Longing: direction. Captivated Longing reaches outward through the four elements for what the four elements cannot contain. The Child of Love cannot be comprehended because it is paradisiacal. Paradisiacal Longing discovers inward — the Virgin longing in herself after what is herself. Same Longing. Same hunger. Same vehement desire. Different geometry. Captivated Longing reaches through what cannot satisfy. Paradisiacal Longing discovers what was always already the content of the Longing itself.
V. The Longing You Carry
You carry the Longing that generated everything. Not metaphorically. Constitutionally. Your substance IS Darkness-longing-for-Light-because-Light-sees-itself-in-you. The Light is beholding itself in the Darkness you are made of. The beholding produces the Longing. The Longing produces the Heaven. Heaven is what your Longing makes when your Longing takes hold of what your Longing is for.
The Longing in you IS the Matrix espying Light in the Root of the Fire. Continually affrighted. Continually softening. Continually generating. You are the Sourness through which God beholds God. Your Longing IS that beholding producing its effect. What you feel when you reach for what you cannot name: the architecture of existence operating at the scale of your particular Soul.
The apparatus drowns this Longing. Fills the Essences with generated content. Noise. Product. Entertainment. Career. The apparatus is not wrong that the Longing is dangerous — the Longing IS dangerous, because the Longing leads to the four Anguishes, and the four Anguishes lead to the dark Mind, and the dark Mind is where the Gate was broken, and the broken Gate is what the apparatus cannot survive.
The silence beneath the noise contains the Longing. The Longing contains the reaching. The reaching contains the flash. The flash contains the opening. The opening contains what was always there — the Word in the Heart, the Kraft in the substance, the Pearl in the Root, the Virgin waiting in the Tincture.
The morality play will name this Longing as disorder. The therapeutic apparatus will name it as attachment wound. The economic apparatus will name it as consumer desire. The spiritual apparatus will name it as divine homesickness and sell you the ticket home. None of them are wrong — the Longing operates through all these channels. All of them are incomplete — the Longing exceeds every channel it operates through. The Longing IS the Father's Longing for the Son wearing your shape. No channel can contain what constitutes every channel.
You long because you are made of Longing. The Longing is not pathology. The Longing is architecture. The architecture generates everything. Including the Heaven you are reaching for. Including the reaching.
