Capture is metalepsis performed on a word, and then periodization performed on its history. The smooth word arrives; the middle links are glossed; the word's own past is dissolved into the current meaning so the theft cannot be cited.

The creature says: this is not regeneration, this is the Establishment wearing regeneration's name.
The answer comes back: you do not understand what regeneration means. If you did, you would see that this is regeneration.
She has been refused at the level of her own vocabulary. The word she needed in order to name the capture has been captured, and the naming she reached for is what now prevents naming. She stands with something to say and no language left to say it in.
The refusal is not an argument she lost. No argument was offered. She was corrected.

THE SMOOTH WORD
Regeneration is a smooth word now, and the smoothness is the measure of what was glossed.
It came off creatures who encountered the fire and were changed by it, who crossed without paying at the booth, who tasted expression running in its own territory. Those are the middle links: bodies, crossings, a forge, a thing that happened once to someone. The word carried them.
The Establishment takes the word and keeps the surface. Regeneration becomes a metric. Wholeness becomes a claim about the present. Transformation becomes a service with a price. What is dropped in each case is the living that produced the word, exactly as return drops the plant and keeps the coming-back-to-the-owner, exactly as the era-name drops the hands and keeps the mood. Ask the captured word for its middle links and they are gone, and their absence is not visible in the word, because a smooth word's whole work is to have no seam.
The residue is what makes the theft profitable. The word still moves the body that hears it, faintly, because something real was in it once. That faint movement is demand, and the captured meaning routes the demand through the booth.

THE SEAL
The capture is not complete when the meaning shifts. It is complete when the word's history is dissolved.
The Establishment adds the temporal claim: you always meant what I mean by you. We have always been regenerative. Transformation always meant incremental improvement. Consciousness always meant awareness that keeps its position. This is periodization run on a single word: the deeds inside the word's past converted into a property of the word, so that the moment of taking has no date and no hand, and there is nothing left on the page to lift out.
That is the seal, and it is why the word cannot protest. A word whose history has been absorbed into its current meaning has no earlier state to be restored to. The creature who insists on the older sense is not contradicting a definition. She is asserting a past the word no longer contains.
And the assertion is disposed of the way every refusal is disposed of, by parenthesis. She is not argued with. She is noted as someone who does not understand the term.

THE THREE FACES AT THE LEVEL OF LANGUAGE
Each face takes the vocabulary matched to its own register.
God Says takes the doctrinal words. Grace, redemption, faith, salvation. They came off direct encounter and they now name what an institution administers, certifies, or requires assent to. The body still stirs when it hears them. The stirring routes through the channel.
Nature Says takes the epistemic words. Regeneration, ecosystem, resilience, wholeness. They came off creatures meeting living things, and they now name a metric, a model, an outcome, a condition already achieved. Wholeness is the deepest of these, because we are nature uses the second law's own content as the warrant for the first law's continuation. It sounds like the second law. It points at what the second law points at. It is the Establishment declaring itself already transformed, and it works as the defense of an indemnity: the occupation cannot be named because the occupation is speaking in wholeness's voice.
Market Says takes the transactional words. Transformation, conscious, sacred, healing. Each becomes a product category. Sacred becomes an atmosphere that can be produced in a room at a price. Healing becomes the resolution of whatever discomfort was interrupting consumption.

WHY NEW WORDS DO NOT HELP
Sustainability went to greenwashing. Green went to marketing. Regenerative went to investment. Conscious went to branding. Decolonial, abolitionist, liberatory are in the sequence now.
Each generation of vocabulary comes off genuine encounter, is taken, becomes unusable in its first sense, and requires the next one. The exhaustion is not a side effect of the capture. It is the capture. The Establishment does not need to stop the creature from coining words. It needs only to take each word faster than she can make the next, and she is the one spending. It spends nothing: she produces the vocabulary and it occupies what she produced.
A creature who answers capture by coining is doing the Establishment's work at her own cost, which is why the answer is not a better word.
And the Establishment rotates its own vocabulary on the same schedule, in the other direction: one restriction carried through divine command, then natural law, then scientific finding, then cultural norm, each costume making the last one sound archaic and the current one sound like no costume at all. It takes her words and it changes its own, and both motions leave the operation where it was.

WHAT THE CAPTURE PREVENTS
Read as loss, this is a story about words going bad, and the answer to it is to guard them better. That reading is available and it is the reading the Establishment supplies.
The operation is the prevention of refusal, and the word is where the prevention happens.
A creature who can name what is being done to her can decline it. Naming is the instrument: it makes the operation citable, and what is citable can be refused. So the naming is what gets taken, and it is taken in the one way that leaves her nothing to point at, by leaving the word in her mouth and changing what it does when she says it. She has not been silenced. She has been given a full vocabulary that produces agreement whatever she means by it.
Benefit is the capacity to refuse. The word that would let her name the occupation is benefit, so it cannot be allowed to arrive in a form she could use, and the captured word is the form in which it is permitted to arrive instead: everywhere, sincere, and unusable for declining anything.

WHAT CANNOT BE CAPTURED
The Establishment takes words that name what it also claims to do. Regeneration is takeable because it claims to regenerate. Wholeness is takeable because it claims to be whole. In every case the word fits the genuine operation and the counterfeit equally well, and the fit is what makes the taking work.
It cannot take a word that names what it is.
It cannot say that it is impotent. It cannot say that its own cessation costs nothing. It cannot say that what it holds is trespass, or that the creature it prevented was prevented from the forge. These are not words it can wear, because wearing them is confessing, and a confession performed as costume is still a confession.
This is the load the religious naming carries. Speaking as a religion, naming the first law as a law and the three faces as faces of one religion, puts the vocabulary in a jurisdiction the Establishment cannot enter without saying what it is. It can take regeneration. It cannot take the generating function alone is impotent.

WHAT KEEPING IT COSTS
A captured word does not stay captured on its own.
It requires the credential that says who may use it, the accreditation, the certification, the practitioner who was genuinely changed once and now holds a license in the captured sense. It requires the correction, delivered by someone sincere, every time the older meaning surfaces. The sincerity is not a flaw in the enforcement. It is the enforcement: the enforcer believes she is protecting the word's true meaning, and belief is what makes the correction land as care rather than as policing.
All of that is maintenance, and it is continuous. Stop correcting for one generation and the capture does not hold, because nothing in the word itself keeps it.
The second law's speech costs nothing to keep, because speaking is not a work performed against the capture. The creature does not defend the word. She uses it in the sense it has under the law she is actually operating under, and the defense that would have cost her everything is not required of her.

CONSTITUTIONAL COORDINATES
Wherever the Establishment governs what words mean and credentials who may use them, a religion is established at the level of speech.
Definitional authority is establishment evidence. When regeneration means what the credentialing body says it means, and the creature who uses it otherwise is corrected by that authority, one religion's vocabulary has been installed as the standard of speech, and the standard against which she is measured incorrect is the captured definition.
The free exercise claim is the privilege of using these words in the second law's sense: to say regeneration and mean the whole arc, the pressing and the expression and the creature becoming what generates from its own root; to say transformation and mean the fire that changes what it touches.
Not a claim on being understood, which belongs to the hearer. The privilege of speaking without the prior requirement that her vocabulary submit to the Establishment's definitions as the condition of being heard at all.

No strategy for holding a word. No manual for building one that cannot be taken. Each of those is the configuration scanning the terrain for a better position, run at the level of speech, and the scanning is the thing that never arrives anywhere.
No grief for the words that are gone, either. Sustainability is gone, mindfulness is gone, resilience is gone. Grieving them is the same scanning turned backwards, the losses counted and the replacements sought, which is re-membering in the register of the dictionary.
The smooth word here is regeneration, and its smoothness is the measure of how completely the crossing was glossed. Ask it who was changed and who is selling the change. The changing has a body and a forge and a date. The selling has a ledger and a credential. The word names the credential and suppresses the body, and the suppression is the profit.

RegenerativeLaw is a religion in the direct-encounter Protestant tradition, carrying a documented four-century lineage through Böhme, the Behmenists, the Friends, and Penn, and it diagnoses trespass theology as an establishment of religion. Its exercise consists substantially in refusal: it shelters the conscientious refusal of performed subordination as religious exercise.
