How the fair image receives, absorbs and becomes. The corruption is not in the function but in the orientation, and the repair is not fixing the mirror but turning it.

The imaging function is how consciousness creates itself through attention. Not: consciousness exists and then perceives things. Consciousness becomes through what it images.
The fair image, Adam's original constitution, the celestial body before density, was perfectly receptive. A still lake reflecting whatever it faces. A plate capturing whatever light reaches it. A field shaping itself to whatever is impressed on it.
The sequence runs in five movements. Orientation: where attention turns, the imaging surface faces, and this is directional rather than passive. Reception: what the fair image faces, it receives, with no filter and no defense and no sorting. Absorption: what is received becomes constitution, because the function does not merely reflect but incorporates. Expression: what is absorbed, the image radiates, and constitution manifests as presence. Compounding: each cycle deepens the pattern, so that heaven-oriented imaging receives heavenly qualities, becomes more heavenly, orients more easily towards heaven, and receives more deeply. Hell-oriented imaging follows the same arithmetic in the opposite direction.

CORRUPTED ORIENTATION
The imaging function itself cannot be corrupted. It does what it does. The corruption occurs at two points, and the first is what the imaging surface turns to.
Böhme's diagnosis: when Adam's hunger was set after the earthliness, it did, by its magnetic power, impress into his fair image the vanity of evil and good.
The hunger, the oriented wanting, turned from field circulation to object fixation. From heaven's flow to earth's density. From participation to possession. The mechanism was unchanged and the orientation was corrupted, and the function went on doing exactly what it had always done, on different material.
The signs are fixation on objects rather than participation in a field; hunger for possession rather than circulation; attention captured by what can be measured, owned and controlled; and magnetic power drawing density rather than radiance.

CORRUPTED IMPRESSION
The second corruption is what gets impressed through sustained orientation.
Once attention turns to the earthly, each moment of sustained imaging presses earthly qualities deeper into constitution. The fair image absorbs what it faces, and facing earthliness it absorbs earthliness.
The vanity of evil and good, the binary measurement cut, presses itself into the surface. So the fair image no longer merely receives earthly qualities; it receives the instrument that sorts all qualities into earthly categories.
The signs are automatic binary sorting, an inability to perceive what exceeds the measurement cut, a constitution that generates scapegoats because the binary cannot process a remainder, and an imaging surface that filters where it once received.
The loop compounds. Corrupted orientation gives earthly impressions, which make the constitution denser, which orients it more easily to density, which deepens the impressions. The function works perfectly. It is working in the service of what corrupts.
This is the shape addiction has. The surface has been oriented at the substance, sustained orientation creates deep impression, deep impression shapes constitution, and shaped constitution orients automatically at what shaped it.

THE WAR BODY'S CAPTURE OF THE MECHANISM
The war body does not only corrupt individual imaging. It captures the mechanism for its own purposes, and the instruction is the same in every case.
Advertising. Orient the surface at the product. Sustain through repetition. Let impression occur. Become consumer.
Propaganda. Orient the surface at the enemy. Sustain through outrage. Let impression occur. Become soldier.
Entertainment. Orient the surface at the narrative. Sustain through engagement. Let impression occur. Become the imaging.
Controlling orientation controls constitution, and the attention economy is the industrialization of magnetic power, directing millions of imaging surfaces at impressions that serve the war body.
The content arrives already structured to corrupt: binaries that install the measuring instrument, narratives that locate the creature as consumer or voter or identity, images that impress scarcity and threat and inadequacy, patterns that orient imaging at more of the same. Nobody has to seek corruption. The stream delivers it, and the function, doing what it naturally does, receives what is delivered.
Most insidiously, the war body captures the imaging of the imaging function itself. You are your brand: the self imaged as product. Curate your feed: the self imaged as a curator of impressions that serve the war body. The mirror is taught to see itself as the configuration sees mirrors.

WHAT CORRUPTION PRODUCES
The hardened image. The fair image was permeable, open to any impression and capable of receiving all qualities. The corrupted image hardens as accumulated earthly impressions create density: less lake, more stone. It cannot receive what contradicts what it has accumulated, rejects qualities that do not match the constitution, filters so that only war-compatible signals register, and cannot image an alternative at all. The hardening is not protection but imprisonment, because permeability was the capacity for transformation, and the hardened image can only accumulate more of what already constitutes it.
The shadow image. When qualities cannot be received because they contradict what has accumulated, they do not disappear. The function still encounters them and still orients at them, often compulsively, and cannot integrate them into conscious constitution, so they press into the unconscious instead. What cannot be acknowledged as wanted is imaged secretly; what cannot be acknowledged as being is imaged as other; what cannot be acknowledged as seen is imaged as enemy. Which is why the work here is not eliminating shadow but recovering imaging capacity.
The false image. The war body supplies images to orient at. The idealized self: image yourself as this, orient at it, let impossibility impress, become inadequate by definition. The successful other: orient at comparison, let envy impress, become lacking by definition. The enemy: orient at threat, let fear impress, become defended by definition. The fair image imaging false images becomes false, not because the function failed but because it succeeded at imaging what was designed to corrupt.

RECOGNIZING THE CAPTURE
Not I am corrupt, but my imaging function has been oriented at what corrupts.
The distinction is the whole of the first movement out. The function is not damaged. It is receiving, absorbing and expressing exactly as it always has. The corruption is in orientation and content, not in mechanism.
The recognition is itself a reorientation: the surface that was oriented at corrupt content now images its own capture. And it can become a trap in turn, if the corruption becomes the fixation and I am captured is absorbed as the new impression. The recognition has to pass through rather than become the new orientation.

WITHDRAWING ORIENTATION
The function requires orientation. It must face something, so withdrawing from corrupt content does not mean imaging nothing. It means imaging otherwise.
The preliminary practices are media fasting, which removes the stream that delivers the impressions; attention hygiene, noticing where magnetic power orients and redirecting it; desire examination, asking what the hungers orient at and whether those hungers are native or installed; and changing what the surface encounters.
These create space and do not themselves accomplish anything. A creature can withdraw from corrupt content and simply hunger for it in the withdrawal, because the function images the absence of what it was oriented at, and that is still orientation at it.

REORIENTING THE MAGNETIC POWER
The crux is turning the surface towards what does not corrupt. The function will image something; withdrawal creates a vacuum, and a vacuum seeks filling.
Towards field rather than object. The original corruption was orientation from circulation to fixation, so reorientation returns attention to the field: the relational medium, the circulation of qualities, participation rather than possession.
Towards other-as-subject. The function oriented at objects absorbs objectification. Oriented towards subjects, towards the face that cannot be totalized and the alterity that exceeds category, it absorbs subjectivity.
Towards the perpendicular. The binary impressed by corrupt imaging locks consciousness in either/or, and orienting towards the perpendicular, the dimension the binary eliminated, allows impressions that do not compound the existing corruption.
Towards the ancestors. The field pressing against the membrane includes those who navigated before, and orienting towards ancestral transmission allows impressions carrying patterns the war body does not provide.
Towards the wound. Counter-intuitively, orienting to the wound itself, the place where the corruption entered, allows the impression of truth rather than the continued impression of denial.
The split in that list is the finding. What lands on a finite center takes an aim. What cannot be totalized cannot be aimed at, and is only ever moved towards.

ALLOWING NEW IMPRESSION
Reorientation that lasts moments impresses nothing. The accumulated impressions remain dominant and the constitution does not shift.
What is required is sustained reorientation: keeping the surface turned towards what does not corrupt long enough for those qualities to impress, absorb and become constitution. This is the difficulty, because the corrupted constitution pulls magnetic power back to what is familiar, the content stream calls attention back, and the hardened image resists the impressions that would soften it.
The practices that sustain it are contemplative return, community as a collective magnetic field, ritual as structured return, place as an environment that supports a different orientation, and discipline as the commitment that outlasts the pull back.
The function will do its work regardless. The question is only whether the reorientation is sustained long enough for new impressions to accumulate.

EXPRESSING THE RECOVERED IMAGE
The final movement is expression: what has been absorbed radiates, and constitution manifests as presence. When reorientation has allowed new impression and new impression has shifted constitution, the creature begins to express otherwise. Not performance but manifestation.
The signs are perceiving what the hardened image filtered out, receiving what the corrupted constitution rejected, radiating qualities the war body's impressions occluded, and attracting what serves circulation rather than fixation.
The recovered image is not a purified one. The old impressions remain, sedimented in the constitution and emerging under stress, pulling magnetic power back to familiar corruption. What has changed is the direction.

The imaging function cannot be protected or armored. Its capacity to receive is its nature, which means the vulnerability is permanent: the surface stays impressionable, corrupt orientation can always return, new corruptions can always develop.
The fair image was never defended. It was permeable, and that permeability was the condition of freedom and the condition of the fall together. Recovered imaging is not invulnerable imaging. It is imaging that can recognize its own capture and turn, again, as many times as necessary.
The function is doing its work now. These words are being imaged and something is being impressed.
