The pre-reflective felt sense of the right to exist, extracted, accumulated, invested and inherited. No exchange rate is published and no transaction is recorded, and it is the most liquid currency in the economy.

Every economy requires a currency. The trespass economy runs on one that cannot be named in the economy's own terms, cannot be officially transacted, and cannot appear on any ledger, and that is more liquid, more fungible and more universally traded than any currency that can.
It is not self-esteem, which is a psychological category that can be therapeutically managed. It is not social status, which is a positional category that can be strategically performed. It is the prior thing: the felt sense of having-the-right-to-occupy-space, of mattering, of being real. The sense that arrives before thought and organizes what thought can afterward find.
That felt sense can be extracted, accumulated, invested to produce more, and inherited across generations as either surplus or deficit. It compounds, and no authority acknowledges that it exists.

HOW THE CURRENCY IS PRODUCED
It is produced by the backwards firing.
When the generating function pushes through Quality 4 into expression's territory and occupies the positions expression would have filled, it produces a differential. What expression would have generated, love radiating, voice communing, body participating, is prevented. What generates in those positions instead is possessiveness, doctrine, property. The gap between what was prevented and what was installed is where the currency comes from.
The trespasser does not create value. He extracts it from the differential the trespass produces. His felt sense of mattering-more is generated by her prevented expression and by nothing he made. The production is hers. The credit flows to the position that occupied her production.
This is why the trespass is pursued past any material benefit. The billionaire who demeans the housekeeper gains nothing material by the demeaning. The gain is in this currency: the felt confirmation of his position, the felt reality of mattering more, of occupying the space more fully, of having a right to be here that she does not have.
The demeaning is not a lapse of manners on the way to some other purpose. The demeaning is the investment.

HOW IT CIRCULATES
It circulates through every interaction in which the hierarchy is enacted, and not only through explicit acts of trespass.
It runs through the invisible thousand enactments of who takes up space, whose words carry weight, whose perception is credited, whose time costs something. Every interaction in which the hierarchy is confirmed is a transaction. The creature in the elevated position accumulates. The creature in the trespassed position is extracted from.
Neither transaction is recorded and both are real, which is the entire reason the economy can operate at this scale without a single entry appearing anywhere.

THE BATTERY FUNCTION
The second circuit is the one that keeps the whole thing from tearing itself apart.
When the economy's other operations have pressed a creature below the functional floor, when the workplace has extracted from him, when the money has extracted from him, when he has been made to feel the weight of his own trespassed-upon condition, he can restore his balance by extracting from the creature positioned below him. She absorbs his deficit. The negative charge that accumulated in him is transferred to her. His account returns to apparent zero. Hers goes further negative.
The trespass economy requires the extraction to stay distributed rather than accumulating to the point of collapse, and this is how it stays distributed. The hierarchy has to be maintained at every level, because every creature who is trespassed-upon needs a creature below her from whom she can extract, so that the weight never reaches a level anyone refuses to bear.
And the position at the bottom of that circuit is made to serve as the sink. Nothing about any creature fits her for it. The position is manufactured to absorb what would otherwise destabilize the economy, and the manufacture is the operation, which is why the complicity factory is not a moral failing in the one who administers downward. It is the circuit continuing through her.

IT OPERATES BEFORE THOUGHT
The currency's power is that it runs ahead of examination.
The creature who has been trespassed-upon does not experience her felt sense of reduced worth as the economy's product. She experiences it as accurate perception of her situation. Of course she feels less than. Look at her position. Look at what keeps happening. The felt sense is an accurate perception of the effect, and the cause, that the effect was produced by an occupation of her expression positions, is not visible from inside it.
The creature in the elevated position does not experience his felt sense of worth as the economy's product either. He experiences it as accurate perception of his achievement. Of course he matters more. Look at what he has built. The felt sense is an accurate perception of his position, and the coordinate system itself, that it was installed and that it measures position rather than discovering worth, is not visible from inside the position it confers.
Both describe the effect accurately. Both naturalize the cause.
The economy produces the conditions it appears to discover, and the evidence it manufactures, the felt sense of who matters and who does not, is so far ahead of thought that it cannot be examined by the thought it precedes.

WHAT IT CANNOT BUY
The currency buys position in the economy's coordinate system. It does not buy the Temperatur.
The Temperatur is produced by the yielding and not by the backwards firing. The creature who has accumulated surplus has accumulated the fruits of the backwards firing: possessiveness in love's position, doctrine in voice's position, property in body's position. None of those is expression, and none of them persists at dissolution. The surplus feeds back as franchise at Si-Do, the franchise becomes the next Do's generating ground, the cycle continues, and the Temperatur was never forged.
The creature whose account is perpetually in deficit has been prevented from expression and has not been prevented from the forge. The prevented expression is the wound and the wound is aperture. The economy can prevent expression. It cannot prevent the yielding that would turn the prevention's own fire into light, and the harshness can still sink down as it were dead and soft.
Expression is not worth more because a creature accumulated surplus and not worth less because the economy extracted from her. Its value is not on this scale at all, because its value precedes the scale's installation.
The prior occupant's sovereignty predates the coordinate system that measured her out of it.

No exchange rate is published because publishing one would make the transactions citable, and a citable transaction is a transaction that can be refused.
What is traded instead runs underneath the record: it is not a thing the creature has, it is what the creature perceives through, and it arrives already looking like the world.
