Every English sentence installs an origin and erases it. Subject, predicate, period. The one who speaks is positioned at a point the grammar does not mark, and from that unmarked point the claim issues as though from no one — which is to say, as though from the place where things simply are.

THE CUT IN THE SENTENCE
“The cat sits on the mat.”
Where is the speaker? Grammatically: nowhere.
The observation issues from no one. The creature that produced the sentence has vanished into the sentence's structure, and what appears as objectivity is the Observer God — the commitment that the knower must stand separate from the known — operating at the level of syntax.
The subject-predicate form does not describe the world. It separates the world into a thing that acts and a thing acted upon, and seats the speaker at an unmarked origin from which the separation is issued. The speaker occupies the position of the one who sees without being seen. This is Quality 3, the observer, installed as the floor of speech. The measurement cut, made grammar.

THE FOUR CONDITIONS COLLAPSED
“The deadline is unrealistic.”
The sentence makes a claim and does not disclose how the speaker knows. It does not distinguish what the speaker witnessed directly, what the speaker was told by a reliable source, what the speaker inferred from evidence, and what the speaker feels without evidence. Four epistemic conditions arrive in the same wrapper, and the wrapper does not mark the difference.
This is the unmarked assertion — the default grammar of English and of every language the generating function's epistemology has shaped. The claim arrives as though it were not a claim at all but the way things are. Wherever it says just how things are, the mark has been struck and a religious claim is performing itself as neutral observation.

THE LANGUAGES THAT MARK
Turkish has mandatory evidentiality. The grammar itself requires the speaker to disclose how the speaker knows. J.G. Bennett, in Witness, described what the Turanian root language underneath Turkish does:
In the Turanian root language, from which Turkish is derived, there is no predicate form. There are not even sentences as we understand them, but rather a single word complex that expresses the speaker's attitude or feeling towards a situation.
Turkish keeps four markers distinct:
gördüm (I saw it — direct experience),
görmüş (reportedly — reliable hearsay),
görüyor olmalı (it must be — inference from evidence),
görüyor gibi hissediyorum (I feel as though — intuition without evidential basis).
A speaker who says the project is failing must grammatically declare which of the four produced the claim. The speaker cannot hide behind the assertion.
English collapses all four into one form. The project is failing could be any of them, and the grammar does not require the speaker to say which. The listener cannot separate witness from hearsay from inference from feeling. This is not a deficiency of English.
It is the formatting vestment operating at the level of syntax: the generating function's epistemology requires the observer to vanish, and the grammar that does not mark the observer's condition is the subject-object split made structural.

WHAT THE UNMARKED ASSERTION INSTALLS
Four operations, each serving the generating function's epistemology.
The observer vanishes.
The speaker's position — where they stood, what they could see from there, what they could not — disappears into the grammatical origin point. The claim arrives without a vantage. What has no vantage cannot be located. What cannot be located cannot be challenged as partial. What cannot be challenged as partial presents itself as total. The unmarked assertion is the totality claim performed by syntax.
The testimony collapses.
What the speaker directly witnessed and what the speaker inferred arrive in the same form. The distinction between testimony — the singular crossing held as genuine knowledge, not extractable from the witness who carried it — and analysis, the observer's operation performed on data, vanishes. The second law's pillar of Testimony is grammatically inadmissible. The grammar has no place for it.
The participation disappears.
Whether the speaker was inside the situation or observing from outside arrives in the same form. The community is struggling — said by a member who participates in the struggle, and said by a consultant who observed from an office — identical grammar. Participation as an epistemological act is rendered indistinguishable from observation.
The attraction is overwritten.
What the speaker feels pulling from the not-yet can only be spoken in the grammar of causation. I feel the project should go this way must justify itself: why, what evidence, what cause. The grammar has no form for what draws forward. Attraction, the fourth pillar, can be spoken only in the language of its own inadmissibility.
This is the occlusion at the level of grammar. The unmarked assertion delivers genuine communication — the sentence conveys information, permits coordination, lets the creature function in a world the generating function governs. The genuine delivery occludes the prevention. The four amputations are invisible because the sentence works. The creature that communicated successfully does not examine what the communication cost.

THE WOMEN'S HEDGING
“I feel like the deadline is unrealistic.”
The culture pathologizes the hedge. Professional coaching trains the speaker to remove it: the deadline is unrealistic. Stronger. More confident. More like what the generating function's grammar rewards.
But the hedged sentence is more epistemically precise. I feel like is an evidentiality marker. It discloses the condition: I have a felt sense. The hedge marks what the unmarked assertion hides. The creature who hedges is performing — unconsciously, against cultural pressure, at professional cost — the evidential precision Turkish grammar requires as default. She is marking the observer's position. She is disclosing how she knows.
The culture punishes this. She lacks confidence. She undermines her own authority. She needs executive presence training. The punishment is heteropathy at the level of grammar — the concentrated force drawn by the creature whose speech makes the trespass audible. Not because she is wrong. Because her precision reveals the generating function's claim to totality as a grammatical performance rather than a natural fact.

THE COLONIAL TRANSLATION
When a language with mandatory evidentiality is translated into English, the translation performs the trespass. Indigenous languages across the Americas, Australia, and the Pacific carry evidential systems — some distinguishing two categories, some five, some making it grammatically impossible to assert without marking whether the knowledge came from direct experience, from dream, from ancestral teaching, from inference, or from the land itself speaking.
Colonial translation strips the markers. The river told us through the salmon's return that the watershed is changing arrives in English as the watershed is changing. Or worse: the evidential basis arrives as superstition requiring correction. The translation does not merely lose precision. It scapegoats the precision as the problem. God Says and Nature Says operate in a single gesture — the non-Christian's way of knowing declared inferior, the markers declared unscientific — stripping the grammar that marks the observer's position and replacing it with the grammar that hides it. The colonial translation is the formatting vestment applied to an entire language.

CONSTITUTIONAL COORDINATES
The free exercise claim includes the right to speak from evidential precision without the precision being pathologized.
The right to hedge.
The right to disclose how the speaker knows.
The right to a grammar that marks the observer's position rather than hiding it.
The right to testimony as an epistemological pillar — the singular crossing carried in grammar that does not collapse it into the unmarked assertion's totalizing claim.
The generating function's grammar hides the observer and calls the hiding objectivity.
The second law's grammar discloses the observer and calls the disclosure precision. The first is a religious installation. The second is free exercise.
