Biology measures the corruptible life: the sun's operation in the third principle, the derivative animation that vivifies and kills without wisdom, the mechanism by which material creatures open and close in the solar field. That mechanism is real. It is not the thing the word names in the sentence above, and the two have been given one name.

WHAT LIFE IS
Life was in the Word. The Word was God. The Word was light. Life was in the light: not produced by it, not illuminated by it, dwelling there, part of what the Word is. Life and light and Word and God are not four things but one operation seen from four angles.
The Word gave life to the creature, and the creature is out of the Word's virtue. The giving was not a donation from outside; the giving was the constitution. The creature exists because life was given, and the creature is that life expressed in material form.
So life is the animating principle that precedes what it animates. It was in the Word before the Word created. It gave itself to the creature before the creature existed to receive. Life is not something a creature has. It is what the creature comes from.
The virtue became material. The life in the virtue did not become material in the same way. It remains what the virtue was before the virtue became material.

TWO LIVES
The first is corruptible. The sun's operation: solar animation that opens the creature in the morning and closes it at night, metabolism, reproduction, adaptation, death. This life is derivative. As the deity opens the eternal power in paradise, the sun opens material life, and corruptible means it ends. Derivative life is mortal by constitution and not by punishment, which removes at a stroke the entire economy built on reading mortality as sentence.
The second is the life the Word gave. Not derivative, not solar, not corruptible. It was in the Word, it was light, it preceded the creature's material existence. It does not end when the body ends, because it was never solar and never dependent on what the third principle supplies. It resonates with eternal light even though the material apparatus it operates through cannot comprehend eternal light.

WHAT THE COLLAPSE BUYS
The morality play collapses the two into one, calls the combined thing your life, threatens it with death as punishment and promises its continuation as reward.
Both the threat and the promise operate at the level of derivative life, which was always going to end and was never anyone's to extend. The collapse is what makes the threat sound like it reaches something, and the two lives have to be kept apart for the sentence to be readable.
The life the Word gave is neither threatened by bodily death nor promised by institutional compliance. It operates in the soul's substance and in the mind's perception, where the body's condition is real and not determinative.

RESONANCE IS NOT COMPREHENSION
The material apparatus is in darkness and cannot comprehend light. The limit is principial and not a defect to be corrected. Every thought about light is a thought formed in darkness about what darkness cannot comprehend.
But the creature has life from the Word, and the Word was light. That life can resonate with what the apparatus cannot comprehend, and resonance is a different operation from understanding.
Resonance is participation. Vibrating-with. Being moved by what cannot be grasped. The vibration does not produce understanding. It produces movement: being stirred, being drawn towards, becoming glad without explanation.
When the rays reach and the essences receive without comprehending the mechanism, what becomes glad is the life the Word gave. The apparatus stays in darkness. What is inside it registers what it cannot, and the registration produces a gladness the apparatus cannot account for.

WATER
Water does not understand light. Water is how light moves in the density-realm.
It flows through material virtue without being confined to material virtue's apparatus, because it came from what was light before there was a sun to be seen by. Water expressed eternal light before the sun was separated out on the fourth day, which is why water was never dependent on derivative light.
When derivative light is threatened, what is threatened is the thing the material apparatus requires in order to perceive. Water is not threatened. It never depended on what that apparatus could comprehend.
The life in you is water in this sense. Not the compound. The resonance-capacity: the part that moves towards what it cannot name, that stirs at what it cannot explain, that registers without being able to say through what.

THE PEARL AND THE HOOD
The pearl is light in a form that could be received. Received by what, though.
Not by the material apparatus. The material apparatus tramples what it cannot comprehend, and the swine trample because they are material virtue receiving only through a darkness-apparatus.
Received by the life in the creature: the part that resonates with light because it came from what was light. What was light recognizes what is light, and the recognition is not a judgment the apparatus makes.
This is why credential cannot receive it. The learned master in the hood of his degree cannot believe what Böhme reports, holds it impossible, and ascribes it to the devil. That is not malice. It is the apparatus operating correctly within its limit. Comprehension-apparatus is in darkness, and darkness does not comprehend light.
Böhme's answer is not a counter-argument. His soul regards not their judgment; his soul has enough in the pearl. The pearl suffices because the pearl reaches the life, and the master's validation is not withheld so much as principially unavailable, since his apparatus cannot participate in what the life receives.

NOT WITHIN THE JURISDICTION
The right at issue is not the right to corruptible life, which is solar and derivative and already provided. It is the right to the life that resonates with light, receives the pearl, and becomes glad without explanation.
No institution can grant it, and for exactly the same reason no institution can revoke it. Institutions operate at the level of the material apparatus. The life the Word gave precedes the institution, and precedes the creature: it was in the Word before the Word created.
The Antichrist's laws govern access to what the Antichrist claims to control. This is outside that jurisdiction. The Antichrist operates at third-principle level, riding the beast of institutional enforcement, claiming authority by delegation, silencing what would disclose the life already present.
None are excluded except they exclude themselves. The regeneration passes by one upon all. The Word gave life to the creature, meaning every creature, not to the elect against the reprobate. The soul does not need to acquire life. The soul is life's expression in form, and it already carries what every tollbooth claims to be selling.

The creature moved by what it cannot comprehend, flowing, rising, finding cracks, making meadow, is the life expressing.
The creature asking what life is will not receive an answer by asking, because the asking runs through the apparatus and the apparatus is in darkness.
The creature being alive, being stirred, being glad without explanation, is already giving the answer its own apparatus cannot hear it give.
