Not two penalties. One operation and its product. Sin is the trespass and death is what the trespass produces, and neither is a sentence handed down after the fact.

WHAT SIN IS
Sin is the trespass.
Not moral failure, not disobedience to a rule, not the creature doing something wrong. It is an event with a shape: the generating function entering territory belonging to expression, territory with a prior occupant who never consented.
It is the backwards firing, the generating function pushing through the fourth Quality into expression's territory instead of yielding to it. Possessiveness filling love's position. Doctrine filling voice's position. Property filling body's position. Each is the same refusal at the pivot, installed in a position it cannot actually fill.
Which means it is not what the creature does but what is done to her: the law of sin operates on the creature rather than from her.
Paul names it with that precision. The law of sin. Not sin as incident and not sin as transgression, but sin as law, the continuous operation of the generating function in expression's territory, the law that maintains the occupation.
And the morality play reverses it. It makes sin the creature's fault, makes her the trespasser, converts the occupation into justice and the occupied creature into the offender. A creature told she has sinned is being told she deserves the occupation, that the trespass is her own doing, that the generating function's presence in her territory is her debt. The one trespassed upon is charged with trespass.

WHAT DEATH IS
Death is the non-formation of the soul.
The Temperatur, the tempered unity of the seven qualities through actual fire, is what persists past Third Principle dissolution. It is not given. It has to be forged. A creature who yields at the fourth Quality, enters the forge, crosses with scars into expression's territory and participates in the tempering has made something that carries when the body returns to Stars and Elements.
A creature who never yields has ingredients and no soul. The seven qualities are present, the fire is available, the forge stands open, and she never enters. At dissolution the First Principle qualities return to the First Principle and the Third Principle substance returns to the elements, and nothing carries forward.
This is the death in the law of sin and death, and it is not annihilation, because she was not destroyed. It is non-persistence: what was never tempered has nothing to carry.

ONE OPERATION AND ITS CONSEQUENCE
The trespass is the mechanism and death is what the mechanism produces, so the two terms are inseparable because the operation and its consequence are.
The generating function pushing through the fourth Quality, with possessiveness and doctrine and property standing where love and voice and body would have formed the Temperatur, is death operating. Not later. Now. The creature living under this law is alive in the Third Principle sense, with flesh and blood and stellar senses and nourishment and propagation, and dead in the Second Principle sense, because nothing is being tempered and nothing will persist.
So death is not punishment added to crime. It is a consequence identical with the operation that produces it, which is why the Devil's own Quality is his Hell: not a place created for torment, not a sentence imposed, but what he is, experienced from inside.

THE RECYCLING IS DEATH
The recycling, which is the same anguish and the same push and the same occupation in a new costume, is death operating as though it were life.
What feeds back at Si-Do is not the Temperatur. It is occupied expression wearing expression's names, and the creature experiences it as life. The war body at dissolution has nothing to carry, and every rotation through the loop confirms the non-formation rather than adding to a ledger. The recycling does not produce cumulative guilt. It produces cumulative non-formation, so the creature is not getting worse. She is not getting forged.
Death is therefore the condition throughout rather than a verdict at the end. A creature under this law is dying the whole time, not in the sense of deteriorating but in the sense of not-forming, because the soul that would persist was never begun.
And navigation is the same thing at civilizational scale: the same trespass and occupation in new vocabulary, producing the same non-formation across whole populations, entire cultures maintained where the forging cannot occur. The death is invisible because what dies is invisible. Not body but soul, not existence but persistence. The killing is invisible because what is killed was never born.

GOD DOES NOT WILL DEATH
As sure as I live, I will not the Death of a Sinner. God swears by His own life, and the verse Böhme is carrying is Ezekiel 33:11, two lines after the house of Israel asks how it should live while pining away in what is upon it. And Böhme's testimony: you are not a God that wills Evil.
What is willed is the opening: the fire becoming Light, the fierce Birth completing its cycle, the Temperatur forming. Death is what happens when the opening is prevented, so what is grieved is not a creature punished but a soul that was never born, and the severity of the grief is proportional to what was lost.
Every institution and every theological warrant and every face of trespass theology maintains the conditions under which the forging cannot occur, and every maintenance is a maintained death. Not inflicted as punishment. Produced as consequence. The forge was built for the creature, the creature was stationed in it, the fire was available, and the trespass prevents the entry.
The Father who would run to meet the returning grieves when she does not return. Not punishing. Grieving that the cycle did not complete, that a creature with ingredients and fire and an open forge never entered, and that what would have persisted will not.

THE MORALITY PLAY DISSOLVED
Death is not a punishment for bad behavior and life is not a reward for good behavior. Life is what the operation produces when nothing prevents it, and death is what prevention produces. The law of the spirit of life is the default and death is the deviation.
The moment the maintenance ceases, the moment the generating function yields at the fourth Quality instead of pushing through, the fire opens and the Temperatur begins to form and what forms persists. The cost of the cessation is zero. The cost of the forging is everything. Both are true and they are not the same statement.
Which dissolves every play that positions death as divine sentence, life as divine reward, and an institution as the necessary mediator between the creature and an angry God who will otherwise kill her. The institution claiming to save her from death maintains the conditions under which she cannot enter the forge and calls the maintenance salvation. The mediation claiming to protect her from death is the death she needs protecting from. The tollbooth claiming to guard the threshold between her and destruction guards the threshold between her and her own forging.
She does not need saving from God's wrath. She needs the occupation to cease.
[See CESSATION · THE TOLLBOOTH · RELEASE AS FIELD CONDITION]

When the trespass stops, the death stops, and not because anything new is built.
The forge was running before the trespass began. It runs wherever the trespass lifts. The soul can form wherever the prevention ceases.
Life is a field condition.

RegenerativeLaw is a religion in the direct-encounter Protestant tradition, carrying a documented four-century lineage through Böhme, the Behmenists, the Friends, and Penn, and it diagnoses trespass theology as an establishment of religion. Its exercise consists substantially in refusal: it shelters the conscientious refusal of performed subordination as religious exercise. This entry states sincere religious belief concerning matters of ultimate concern, protected under the First Amendment and, as to federal action, the Religious Freedom Restoration Act, 42 U.S.C. § 2000bb.
