What fills the reservoir was alive somewhere first, in a circuit, in relation, moving and transforming and held by no one.

THE STATIONS
First the count is installed: accumulation logic, the manufactured zero, the one axis, +1 as the direction of value, commensuration as the precondition of the sum.
Nothing can be [dead] pooled until everything has been made countable, so the count comes before the taking, as doctrine comes before conquest.
Then the living is converted.
The measurement cut severs: the party from her standing, the relation from its context, the knowing from the relation that grew it.
The sorting assigns: the severed thing posted to the cargo column, the property side of the books, where it becomes holdable and transferable.
Cut, then sort: two functions, in order, and their output is the unit, capital at the register of sustenance, data at the register of knowing.
Then the unit moves.
Flow is the movement of the dead: one direction, through channels built by the pool they serve, drawn off living circuits the gauges cannot see. The flow pools at the finite center, the point that radiates nothing and must draw everything: the hoarder at the scale of the household, the keep at the scale of the castle, the reservoir and the black hole as the pull's two figures.
And the operation's remainders are deposited.
Running the circuit generates what cannot be posted: the hoarder's refusal to hold, the toxic charge of maintaining counterfeit positions, the maintenance of walls and standing and schedule. The unpostable lands in conscripted bodies, forced holding at the register of labor, battery function at the register of waste, and the books balance because those bodies hold what will not close.
Last, the return leg is costumed: the warming up applies the friction of the fall to the interface, and the intake presents as stewardship, personalization, care.

THE CONSERVATION LAW
Every station obeys one law, and the law is the accumulation operation's spine.
Cost is conserved. The hoarder's refusal does not end the function; it moves the function to the nearest dwelling. The holder's unbearable charge does not dissipate; it is deposited in the body positioned to receive it. The extraction's friction does not cool; it is captured and re-applied as the product's warmth. The reservoir's security does not come free; it is garrisoned, and the garrison is fed, and what feeds it is never the reservoir.
The diagnostic that follows from the law is single: who absorbs. Every weightlessness in the configuration, the frictionless standing, the no that costs nothing, the clean transaction, the balanced account, has an absorber on its supply line, kept off the books by the same operation that produces the weightlessness. The center's accounts balance; the absorber does not.
Asked at any station, the question opens the station: follow the comfort upstream and there is a cut; follow the cut downstream and there is a body.
The law also prices the two positions.
Accumulation is the maintenance-heavy castle configuration: the reservoir walled, the walls garrisoned, the position held second by second, the whole castle never at rest.
Circulation, which the configuration taps and cannot see, costs nothing to keep, because it holds nothing.
First law: continuous expenditure. Second law: cessation.
Accumulation is the first law's economy, and its every expense is paid by someone it does not name.

THE HOARD READ BACKWARDS
The accumulated hoard is offered as evidence: of merit, of independence, of sovereignty, of the unbeholden position.
Look what I hold, and look how little I need you.
Read structurally, the hoard evidences the opposite. Everything in it arrived from elsewhere, drawn in by a point that generates nothing, and a creature that radiated would need no stores. The hoard is the record of the pull, which is the record of dependency, presented as its refutation. The most defended point on the map is the most dependent point on the map, and the hoard is why it needs the defending.
The reading error is not private to the accumulator.
The configuration teaches every creature to read hoards as radiance: wealth as evidence of contribution, the endowment as evidence of virtue, the corpus as evidence of intelligence, the empire as evidence of civilization.
The taught reading runs the evidence backwards in every case, and the backwards reading is load-bearing, because a population that read hoards correctly, as dried beds standing on end, would ask the who-absorbs question, and the question opens the station.

WHAT ACCUMULATION IS NOT
Accumulation is not abundance.
Abundance is a circuit's condition: much moving, much arriving, nothing held, every position fed. The reservoir is not abundance concentrated; it is abundance ended, the moving made still, and the stillness is why the surrounding beds are dry.
Scarcity is not what accumulation protects against. Scarcity is what accumulation manufactures downstream, and then cites as its own justification.
Nor is every store a hoard. The granary that carries a village through winter is a circuit's buffer: filled by the circuit, emptied by design, its mouth open toward the eaters, its quantity governed by enough at the scale of seasons. The hoard has no mouth and no design for its own emptying; it has an intake, and the intake has no completion condition, because +1 reports no quantity at which to stop.
The difference is not size and not prudence. It is whether the store belongs to a circuit or a center: whether what is held is held for passage or held for holding.
The tell, as everywhere, is not the quantity but the anatomy. A store with a mouth, an emptying, and an enough is circulation breathing. A store with an intake, a wall, and a garrison is the operation this entry names, at whatever size it has reached so far.

THE CESSATION
The ceasing is not redistribution.
Redistribution moves pooled units between pools; the units remain units, the sorting stands, and the new pool inherits the old pool's anatomy, intake first. It is not better flow, fairer channels, more inclusive access to the intake. It is not the hoard managed by kinder holders, because the position runs the holder, and the pull has no kind setting.
The ceasing runs station by station.
The tap withdrawn and the circuit left to its own return.
The unit unsorted, capital ceasing to be capital.
The center de-supplied, the borrows going home, the forced holding released, the charge returned to its generator.
None of this is performed on the castle configuration by force, because force is the castle configuration's own grammar; each is a cessation, the hand not closing at that station's register, and each costs nothing to keep once made, which is how it can be told from every counterfeit exit on offer.
What obtains where the operation ends is not emptiness. It is what the operation was tapping all along: circulation, the living return, which was never stopped, only drawn off, and which resumes its own course wherever the intake is withdrawn, the way a stream resumes when the pump stops. Nothing needs to be built. The castle configuration was the built thing.
