Every violence named in this Codex is real.

The translation corruptions have dates and names. The enclosure has court records and land surveys. Coverture has statutes and centuries of enforcement. The measurement cut that renders care work zero has GDP calculations and national accounts. The push-out operation has school disciplinary records and prison census data. The priest at the threshold charging passage has archives, inquisition records, and the bones of those burned for reporting direct encounter.

These violences are real. They operated. They produced wounds measurable in bodies, in centuries, in what was destroyed and did not return.

There is a violence beneath all of these. Not separate from them — operating through them. Making them effective in a way external force alone could never achieve.

The trespass cannot destroy expression. It cannot eliminate the territory it occupies. The direct relation between the creature and the source of the creature persists beneath every installation. Expression was there before the generating function entered, and the generating function's entry does not annihilate what it prevents. Prevention is not destruction. The prior occupant remains — occluded, compressed, held under — but present.

The trespass does not need to destroy what it cannot destroy.

It only needs the creature to believe that expression is absent.

This is the greatest violence: the installation of the belief that what was never taken is gone.

When that belief installs — when the creature who has never actually been severed from expression accepts the verdict of severance as the nature of things — the trespass achieves what no external enforcement could achieve: the creature enforces its own occlusion. The apparatus no longer operates on the creature. The creature operates the apparatus.

The trespass sequence reaches completion not when external enforcement succeeds but when external enforcement becomes unnecessary.

The creature who has accepted that direct encounter requires mediation does not merely submit to the mediator's authority — the creature experiences the absence of the mediator as the absence of encounter itself. The mediator has been installed not merely between the creature and encounter but inside the creature's capacity to recognize encounter. Mediation has become the structure of perception. The creature cannot encounter except through the frame the mediator provided, because the frame is now what encountering feels like from inside.

The creature who has accepted that her knowing requires external validation does not merely submit to the validation apparatus — she routes her own perception through but what does he think? before she trusts what she knows. The interpreter has been installed not merely between the creature and her knowing but inside her access to her knowing. The mediation has become her epistemology.

The creature who has accepted that provision requires market conversion does not merely participate in the market — the creature can no longer imagine commons as real provision. The market has been installed not merely between the creature and provision but inside the creature's capacity to perceive provision as possible. The mediation has become its sense of what exists.

Three installations. One mechanism. The trespass outsourced to the creature it trespassed upon.

The creature searching for expression through the generating function's instruments confirms the absence.

This is the structure of the wound in its most precise form. The generating function's instruments — contraction, measurement, observation, possession — cannot register what expression is. Expression operates in the territory the generating function occupies but cannot inhabit. The search for expression through the generating function's consciousness will find nothing, accurately. The instruments are working. They are reporting the correct result for what instruments of that kind can detect: the absence of what those instruments cannot register.

The result is accurate. The conclusion from the result is wrong.

The creature concludes: expression is not available to me. I must find it elsewhere — through another, through an institution, through a process that can produce what I cannot reach directly. The conclusion generates the need. The need generates the market for the priest. The priest confirms what the creature has already concluded from its own experience of not finding what it couldn't find through the search-mode it was using. The offer matches the belief. The belief deepens.

This is how the installation installs itself. Not by force alone. By the creature's own accurate experience of an instrument's limitation, drawn to the wrong conclusion — and then that conclusion confirmed by every apparatus built to confirm it.

External force operates on bodies. The inquisition burned bodies. The enclosure dispossessed bodies. Coverture controlled bodies. These were real. These produced real deaths and real deprivations across real centuries.

But bodies can resist. Bodies can flee. Bodies can organize. External force must be continuously applied or it loses effect. The threat must remain credible or submission collapses. The enforcement apparatus must be maintained or what it enforces dissolves.

The interior installation requires no maintenance once installed.

The creature who has accepted the verdict of exile needs no inquisitor to ensure she keeps searching for the priest. The creature who has accepted that direct encounter is unavailable needs no enforcement to keep paying for mediation. The creature who has accepted that her knowing is invalid silences herself before speaking — routes her perception through the apparatus that declared it invalid, presents it already hedged, already subordinated, already processed through the mediation structure as if the structure were necessary.

The wall the prison requires must be continuously maintained. The belief that the prison is reality maintains itself. The creature who believes there is no outside patrols the inside more effectively than any guard.

The dispossessed creature knows what was lost. The creature under legal annihilation knows the standing that was taken. These wounds have a shape the creature can name.

The interior installation produces a different wound: the loss of the capacity to know what was never lost.

The creature who was never actually severed from expression has lost the capacity to know it was never severed. The creature whose encounter was never blocked has lost the capacity to recognize the encounter that is occurring. The direct relation that was never destroyed has been experienced as absent by the consciousness that would recognize it — if it knew recognition was possible.

This wound cannot be healed by being told it is wrong. Being told the wound is wrong while feeling the wound does not remove the wound — it adds the wound of dissonance to the wound of occlusion. The creature that has accepted the verdict of exile and is then told the exile was never real asks: then why does it feel real? Why did my own searching confirm the absence? Why did every reaching toward expression confirm the gap?

The only retraction that reaches this wound goes beneath the content of the verdict to the structure of the search: the search-mode that confirmed absence was a search-mode that cannot perceive presence. The generating function's instruments confirmed that expression was absent from the territory the generating function can register. That result was accurate. What was absent was not expression — what was absent was expression within the coordinates where the generating function's instruments can look.

The trespass cannot complete itself.

The apparatus cannot destroy what it cannot perceive, and what it cannot perceive does not cease to exist by not being perceived. Expression — the prior occupant, the second law's territory, the creature's own constitution — was not destroyed by the installation. It was compressed under the installation. It continues. It reaches. It encounters, in the gaps the apparatus has not reached, in the moments when the generating function's grip loosens, in the wound that carries the shape of what was prevented — because the wound is the aperture, the place where the pivot didn't happen that remembers what the pivot requires.

The priest did not actually separate the creature from encounter. The priest installed the experience of separation — which is real — while the encounter continued beneath the installation, unperceived through the lens the installation provided but not absent from what exists.

The translation corruption did not eliminate the witnesses. The manuscripts preserve the evidence of their own violation.

The enclosure did not eliminate the commons. The commons persist in the gaps the apparatus has not finished destroying.

The interior installation is the most total violence the trespass produces.

The interior installation is the violence that cannot complete itself.

Both are true.

The creature's believing does not make it so.
