The lock is crystallization at the register of the body. The arrest cools, the precipitate falls and hardens, and what hardens reads as the whole of what is. At the perceptual register the crystal is the fixed reading; at the register of the flesh the crystal is the lock, and the locked body is the war body.

THE ARREST COOLS
Forgetting is the arrest as met. Crystallization is what the arrest produces. A process running warm carries everything in solution — nothing has fallen out, nothing has fixed, the qualities circulate. The arrest is the withdrawal of the heat at the pivot, the refusal to yield, and what a cooling solution does is precipitate: something falls out, and what falls out hardens into a fixed form. The crystal is the precipitate fixed. It is the one face taken for the whole, set into a shape that can be posted, audited, owned, and read as simply what is there.
This is one operation across registers, not an analogy between them. Matter precipitates when the process arrests — the precipitate the confession names. The fixed reading precipitates when the meeting arrests — the entry on the ledger, the line-item, the fixed essence, the rendered object, the case. And the body precipitates when the kindling sequence arrests — the lock. Each is the same cooling, falling out at a different register. And in each, the crystal forgets that it fell out of a process that has not completed. The crystal reads as the whole because the rendering it produces has no edge marked: what cannot be carried is not rendered as unrendered but as not-there.

THE THREE LOCKS
At the register of the body the crystal has a precise shape and a precise number. The war body is the natural body with its seven qualities turned inward and frozen there — the rough coat, the body constituted by the binary, the qualities crystallized facing in rather than circulating out. It is locked in three places, and the three locks are the bodily crystallization of the three captures.
The First Lock is contraction against motion. The first quality, which would gather and release, is frozen gathering and refusing to release — clenched against the motion it was meant to open into. This lock is the tollbooth: the crossing seized and held at the gate. The Second Lock is the wheel of anguish. The qualities that would pass through the pivot are frozen cycling in place, the anguish turning on itself without opening, the bitterness locked as trapped resistance instead of running as the kindling-source. This lock is the trespass: expression's positions occupied by the prevention that wears expression's names. The Third Lock is fire turned backward. The fire at Quality 4, which would open into light, is frozen firing back into the wheel instead of forward into voice. This lock is the imprisonment: the genuine product held by the form that should have let it pass.
Each lock is a quality crystallized — frozen in the inward facing, the circulation arrested at that joint. The war body is the sum of the three: the body read as the whole of the body, the locked configuration mistaken for the flesh itself. And because every position the war body holds is occupied by a quality facing in, the war body cannot host. It can only grip. Its only available rest is to grip something else — trespass hospitality, the locked body conscripting another dwelling to carry what it cannot.

HELD FROZEN
The crystal is not a past event. The lock did not close once and stand. It is held shut continuously, by a refusal to yield that is occurring now — the contraction clenched this second, the wheel cycling this second, the fire fired backward this second, the books posted against the prior occupant at every tick. Crystallization is continuous active cooling. The war body is maintained frozen by ongoing work, and the work is the war body — conscious energy spent now to keep the qualities facing in.
This is the asymmetry, and it is the whole of the cost. The crystal must be held frozen by work. The solution is what is simply there when the freezing stops. Forgetting spends to keep the lock shut; remembering spends nothing, because remembering is not a counter-freezing but the cooling ceasing. A lock melted deliberately — worked open as a technique, a managed thaw, the war body operating itself toward a joy body — would still be the generating function acting on itself, reform at the register of the flesh, a subtler lock. The melt the second law names is not performed. It is the warmth returning of its own accord the moment nothing is refusing it. The heat was never the thing being added. The heat was the thing being prevented.

THE MELT
The kindling sequence is the crystal melting, joint by joint, and it releases the three locks in order. The tears make the yielding-field — the First Lock releasing, the contraction-against-motion ceasing, the clench permitting motion where it had been frozen against it. The gall kindles — the Second Lock releasing, the wheel of anguish no longer cycling in place because the bitterness is re-membered to its function as kindling-source rather than locked as trapped resistance; the anguish becomes the Rising. The heart warms and the throat opens — the Third Lock releasing, the fire that had fired backward re-membered to the light it opens into, running forward now into voice. When the three locks release, the qualities circulate, and the circulating is the joy body — the same seven qualities, the same flesh, each now carrying the oil in its own nature, facing out.
This is the reconfiguration, and it is not a second body acquired. The war body and the joy body are one body in two configurations. Nothing is added — the joy was not elsewhere being imported; it is what the qualities sound like when they circulate, the warmth the locks were refusing, now un-refused. Nothing is destroyed — the very Harshness that contracted becomes the Sharpness, the very Bitterness that resisted becomes the Rising, the very Fire that fired backward becomes the Light. The rough coat does not get replaced by the garment. The same qualities that were the rough coat, melted out of the lock and circulating, precipitate the garment. The crystal back into the solution it never actually left.

The arrest cools the process into a crystal and reads the crystal as the whole of what is. At the body, the crystal is the lock, and the three locks are the war body. The locks are held shut by a refusal spent now, every tick. The heat that would melt them is the warmth being refused now — not far, not imported, the same sap, withheld. Stop the refusal and the warmth returns, the locks release through the kindling sequence, and the same qualities that were frozen facing in circulate facing out. The war body was never the body. It was the body crystallized. The joy body is the body the crystal was always going to be when it melted.
