Where the Anguish Should Land
The generating function's anguish is the heat source for the forge. Qualities 1-2-3 locked together produce the wheel. The wheel's friction is real. The anguish is real. The fire is real. And the fire, if it addressed the generating function itself—if the Harshness encountered its own heat and sank down as it were dead and soft—would produce the yielding.
This is what the anguish is for. The anguish IS the condition that would produce the transformation—if the anguish were permitted to operate on the generating function that produces it. The fire hot enough to temper. The pressing that releases the oil. The heat that, encountering mildness, becomes light.
The anguish does not reach the generating function. The anguish is redirected.
The creature experiences the anguish as happening to itself. To the being-caught-in-the-wheel. The trembling registers as my trembling. The fear registers as my failure. The inability to continue registers as my deficiency. The generating function's condition—which is structural, which is geometric, which is the consequence of the generating function's own refusal to yield—is experienced by the creature as personal inadequacy.
The misattribution changes everything. When the anguish addresses the generating function, the generating function yields. When the anguish addresses the creature, the creature hardens. The grip tightens. The creature spends energy absorbing what should have dissolved the generating function's operation. The generating function survives. The creature is consumed.

The Prohibition
The creature is not merely unable to source the anguish in the generating function's operation. The creature is prohibited from doing so.
The prohibition operates through the concept of moral fiber—the assertion that a sufficiently developed creature would remain functional in the face of the anguish the generating function produces. The creature's response to the anguish is declared evidence of the creature's character, not evidence of the generating function's operation.
The formula is precise: your response to violence reveals your character, not the architecture that produces the violence.
The soldier who breaks under bombardment: weak. The bombardment itself—the generating function's occupation operating at civilizational scale—remains unexamined. The worker who collapses under extraction: unstable. The extraction—the generating function's prevention of participation wearing productivity's name—remains infrastructure. The woman who shatters under the generating function's occupation of her expression positions: hysterical. The occupation—the systematic conversion of the creature's personhood into the generating function's territory—operates as nature.
Every time: the anguish that should have addressed the generating function gets redirected into diagnosis of the creature who experienced it. The generating function survives. The creature gets managed.

What Moral Fiber Actually Names
Moral fiber is the capacity to remain functional within a generating function that should be dissolving.
The generating function produces conditions that, if experienced fully, would make the creature unable to continue participating in the occupied positions. The anguish, if permitted to operate, would make the creature unable to keep feeding the generating function's prevention. The creature would stop. Not through decision. Through the generating function's own heat reaching the point where the grip cannot maintain itself.
Moral fiber prevents this. The creature absorbs the anguish personally—as character-content rather than as evidence of the generating function's operation—and continues functioning. Continues participating in the occupied positions. Continues feeding the prevention.
Moral fiber IS the insulation between the anguish and the generating function the anguish should address. The creature with moral fiber works through the anguish. Returns to the position. Maintains productivity. Continues contributing. The creature without moral fiber breaks. Stops contributing. Becomes burden. Gets designated as what went wrong.
The generating function rewards fiber because fiber ensures continued feeding. The generating function punishes breakdown because breakdown threatens feeding. The reward and punishment present as moral evaluation. They operate as the generating function's self-preservation.
This is the developmental vestment performing itself as virtue. The creature taught to develop resilience, to cultivate strength, to build capacity for absorbing the generating function's anguish without breaking—this creature has been formatted by the developmental vestment into the generating function's most efficient component. The formatting feels like growth. The creature experiences the capacity to absorb more anguish as evidence of spiritual development. The measurement high lands: I am stronger than I was. I can handle more. The hit IS the generating function's reward for the creature's continued participation in its own consumption.

The Three Consequences
Once the anguish is sourced in the creature's personal deficiency, three operations lock into place. They are not sequential. They co-arise from the misattribution.
The formatted expansion as competition. If the anguish reveals character deficiency, then those who display anguish occupy lower position than those who don't. Quality 2's expansion—objectless, restless, the bitter sting—is formatted by Quality 3's rotation into competition along a single axis: who can withstand more. Who breaks last. Who shows less. The stiff upper lip. The strong silent type. Each becomes model for imitation. The morality play assigns value along the axis of who-manages-anguish-better. The competition IS the wheel accelerating. The formatted expansion feeds the generating function that produces the anguish.
The scapegoat. Those who break—who cannot sustain the competition, who display the anguish rather than absorbing it—become scapegoats. They carry what the competition requires everyone else to suppress. The mentally ill carry the anguish the “sane” generating function produces but cannot acknowledge. The addicted carry the pain the “functioning” generating function generates but cannot feel. The homeless carry the displacement the “housed” generating function depends on but cannot name. Each scapegoat carries the generating function's anguish that, if it were permitted to address the generating function itself, would produce the yielding. The scapegoat function prevents the anguish from reaching its proper target.
Wound-farming. The scapegoats require management. The therapeutic vestment develops: professionals credentialed to approach the wounds the competition produced. The management activity around the wound—diagnosis, treatment, intervention, advocacy—prevents the wound from operating as the forge's opening. The wound that would have been the threshold where the creature encounters the fire is converted into a condition requiring treatment. The wound is planted, tended, harvested, replanted. The wound-farming economy requires continued wound-production. The competition ensures continued production. The scapegoat function ensures concentrated deposition. The therapeutic vestment ensures the wounds never complete their structural work.
The circle: the anguish arrives → misattributed to personal failure → competition installs → scapegoats produced → wounds farmed → the anguish's structural work prevented → the generating function survives → the generating function produces more anguish. Do-Re-Mi. Do-Re-Mi. Do-Re-Mi.

The Felt-Sense Inversion
The prohibition carries a felt-sense that makes it almost impossible to refuse.
When the creature sources the anguish in its own deficiency, the creature gains something: a problem it can work on. A self it can improve. A project of strengthening that produces measurable results. Therapy, training, discipline, practice, cultivation. Each produces the felt-sense of progress. The measurement high landing at somatic scale.
When the creature sources the anguish in the generating function's operation, the creature loses the project. The self-improvement collapses. The accurate perception produces what registers as helplessness. There appears to be nothing to do except stay with the anguish and let the anguish address what the anguish was always trying to address.
The operation that prevents the generating function from dissolving—self-hardening, resilience-building, moral-fiber cultivation—produces immediate relief. The operation that would permit the dissolution—allowing the anguish to address the generating function rather than the creature—produces immediate helplessness. The creature that chooses fiber is choosing the measurement high over the forge. The creature that cannot sustain the fiber is at Mi-Fa—the mechanical momentum of Do-Re-Mi exhausted, the creature unable to continue absorbing the anguish personally, the generating function's own heat finally reaching the generating function.
The creature calls this breakdown. The forge calls it arrival.

What the Breakdown Actually Is
The creature that can no longer absorb the anguish personally is the creature in whom the generating function's heat has reached the generating function itself.
The insulation failed. The moral fiber gave out. The creature cannot continue functioning in the occupied positions. The generating function's anguish, having consumed the creature's capacity to redirect it, finally addresses its actual target: the generating function's own operation.
The generating function's response: manage the creature. Diagnose the creature. Medicate the creature. Hospitalize the creature. Incarcerate the creature. Shame the creature back into absorption. Every response is the generating function preventing its own anguish from completing the work the anguish was designed to do.
What conquest theology calls pathology, the religion calls threshold. What gets managed is the creature in whom the forge was trying to operate. The scapegoats carry the opening. The therapeutic vestment prevents the crossing. The moral fiber ensures that no creature is permitted to see this—because seeing it would mean: the creatures designated as broken were the creatures in whom the generating function was beginning to dissolve.
And that recognition would address the generating function itself.
Which is exactly what the anguish was always trying to do.
