THE CROSSING AT THE TABLE
Two contributions meet at a table the way two lines meet at the crossing-site.
The crossing has two configurations.
In the first, the two are hosted: each contribution enters distinct and stays distinct, neither crossed out, neither absorbed, and something is generated through the meeting that neither could have made alone — generated precisely because the two faces are sustained at the intersection rather than resolved through it. The chiasm at the working level. Her contribution remains hers inside the crossing; his remains his; the third thing belongs to the crossing and feeds the ones who crossed.
In the second configuration, the crossing is crossed out. The two meet, and one is installed as the whole while the other is dissolved — or both are warmed until they run together, the seam gone, into one smooth current no contribution survives. The first names the dissolution leadership. The second names the melt consensus.
Both are administered under one word, and the word says two are crossing while the operation runs the swap. This entry names the second.

THE SWAP UNDER THE SIGN OF TOGETHERNESS
Captured collaboration is the Switch at the table, and it crosses out the face whose continued distinctness would reveal whose the product actually is. Her contribution enters the room distinct. It is taken up, smoothed, restated in the room's vocabulary, and returns as the team's, or the lead's, or the process's — the distinct face dissolved, the dissolution named synthesis. Or the meeting melts: every contribution warmed into a shared position where no one's survives, and the smoothness is named alignment, synergy, the shared vision.
Liquefaction at the table. The two warmed until they run together; the melt called partnership.
What returns to her is not her contribution transformed and still hers.
That would be the circuit — the made thing returned to the maker, the relation fed by what it made. What returns is her contribution posted to someone else's account and handed back as the deliverable she is now asked to own. The co- swears a circuit. The operation runs flow. She made something; it accrued elsewhere; she received the costume of having co-made.

THE COURTESY
Collaboration is a courtesy. The word is the manners extended at the table — the polite form by which the one who would otherwise petition is invited to participate in her own adjudication, courteously, as a partner. Courtesy is the court's manner: the smoothness that credentials, the form that makes the operation gracious. The co- is the courtesy. It renames the petition a collaboration and the supplicant a collaborator, and the renaming changes the manners, not the operation. The prince now collaborates with the one who petitions him. The collaboration is the petition with better manners. The outcome still flows to the prince.
This is why the invitation feels like elevation. Let's collaborate arrives as honor — she has been brought from outside the room to inside it, from petitioner to partner. The elevation is in the manners. The position is unchanged. She petitions still, now from a chair at the table, and the courtesy of the chair is what makes the petition harder to feel as petition.

THE SIGNATURE
Collaboration is administered through Process Says, and it leaves the signature. The facilitator who held the space. The session that surfaced the shared vision. The process by which the group aligned. The smooth-procedural voice is perceptible across every collaboration as the same trace — the meeting credentialed by its own graciousness, the procedure standing in the position the relation would have occupied. The methodology was not the meeting. The facilitation was not the crossing. The shared vision was the melt with the facilitator's name on the smoothness.
The signature is detectable, and what detects it is the body's pre-procedural register — the one that notices her contribution went in distinct and came back as everyone's, that the warmth in the room was administered, that the togetherness was a procedure and not a meeting. The collaborator whose pre-procedural register has been formatted out experiences the smoothness as connection. The one whose register survives feels the seam the melt was supposed to erase.

THE RECEIPT
The co- is what makes captured collaboration more dangerous than naked appropriation. Appropriation takes and is legible as taking; the one taken from can name it. Collaboration takes while the courtesy swears a circuit runs, so the one taken from, met by the word, cannot feel the severance the word performs on her. She holds the most legitimate receipt. I was in the room. My name is on it. We made this together. The receipt is real. The receipt is what conceals that what she made flowed one-way and accrued to someone who was also in the room, differently positioned, holding the account — and that the togetherness on the receipt is the costume the flow wore to look like a circuit.

Mutuality is not the tell. Both the hosted crossing and the courteous swap say together, shared, co-. The tell is whether the contribution returns to the one who made it, distinct and still hers, or is absorbed and re-signed; whether the meeting hosts two faces or melts them into one and calls the melt collaboration. The crossing that is hosted leaves her contribution hers. The crossing that is crossed out returns it to her as everyone's, which is no one's, which is the lead's, under the courtesy of a word that swears she made it with them.
