THE FORM
The bad-infinity structure is the asymptote: perpetual approach towards a limit without closure. A function that extends across time without completing itself.
Compound interest is the cleanest case. e to the rt extends, and it does not close, and the books require the extension because the extension is the extraction.
e to the iθ is the same function with the exponent turned perpendicular. It returns to itself. The infinite extension is folded into the closure that the rotation provides.
Same operation in two configurations. With the perpendicular admitted, the function closes. With the perpendicular amputated and the rotation linearized into accumulation, the function extends and never arrives.

WHERE IT OPERATES
At the financial register. Compound interest, debt service, mortgages, student loans, credit cards, payday lending, sovereign debt, structural adjustment. Three configurations, all of them the same form at different parameters: slow approach towards zero, where payments exceed the growth rate and the principal declines across decades; static service, where payments equal the growth rate and the principal does not move; and expansion, where payments fall below the growth rate and the creature moves away from zero rather than towards it.
At the philosophical register. The dialectic. Thesis posits antithesis, the contradiction sublates into synthesis, and the synthesis becomes the next thesis. It extends across history without arriving, because each synthesis is the next thesis. The absolute idea is the bad-infinity structure rebranded as completion through accumulated philosophical work.
At the ecclesial register. Confession to absolution to sin to confession. The penitent perpetually approaches grace through repeated sacramental encounter, and the administering position is preserved by the sacrament never closing, because a closed sacrament would not need administering.
At the domestic register. The care that has no closing time. The list that regenerates faster than tasks complete. The wife under coverture whose service has no termination clause. The mother whose work extends through her children's lives and into her own decline, and the daughter whose care extends through her parents' decline and into hers.
At the therapeutic register. The self-improvement that regenerates its own gap. Each closed gap reveals the next. Each healed wound exposes the next. Recovery without release, therapy without cessation, and a wholeness calibrated to recede at the rate the creature approaches it.
At the productivity register. The inbox that does not close. The list that regenerates. The KPI replaced by the next KPI, the goal by the stretch goal. There is no closing time because the function does not close.
At the cosmological register. The Kingdom always coming. The Reformation always continuing. History always heading towards its consummation. Each generation told the consummation is near, and each generation's continued labor purchased by the appearance of approach.

THE POSITION IS NOT A CONDITION
The creature in the position experiences the perpetual approach as her own slowness, her own inadequacy, her own failure of will.
The closure is unavailable structurally and not psychologically. No amount of effort produces closure, because effort inside the operation is the operation continuing. She is not failing to close the function. She is standing in the position the function was built to operate from.
And the cost has been exported to her. The function extends; she carries the extension as her work, her time, her hope, and her account of herself.

WHAT THE BOOKS REGISTER
The books register the open-endedness as correct operation, and they are correct in their own register. The register is the trespass.
Each payment posted. Each balance carried forward. Each accrual closing the period in balance. Each audit confirming it. The page closes and the function does not, and both are true, and the truthfulness at the period level is what conceals the operation across periods.
The creature is told the page closed correctly. She is told nothing about what is running underneath, because nothing underneath is an entry.

REFORM IS THE SAME FORM AT ADJUSTED PARAMETERS
Every reform adjusts the rate of approach without touching the shape of it.
Lower rates extend the asymptote across more periods. Income-based repayment extends it across a lifetime. Forbearance pauses it. Modification produces a new one at new parameters. Forgiveness at year twenty-five transfers the unforgiven principal to the tax filing as the final extraction.
Reform reads as progress because it produces measurable improvement in the rate of approach. The improvement is real at the level it operates. The relief is real. The function extends.
This is why reform cannot release what the form holds. Reform is the operation acting on itself. Cessation is what obtains when it stops acting, and the two are categorically distinct: the first is a product, and the second is not a product at all.

THE POLARITY
The form sells closure as a product earned through more of the same operation. Just keep going and you will arrive. The market self-corrects in the long run. The arc bends. Each is a bad infinity declared a true one by the addition of narrative about accumulated work.
That is the polarity at the level of the asymptote. Two sides are generated, perpetual approach at one end and closure-through-work at the other, and the labor between them is sold as the path. The third position, the synthesis, the long run, the consummation, the retirement, the breakthrough, is the polarity's most refined product: the perpetual operation re-described as completion.

THE CAPTURE OF TIME
The form converts time into the medium through which the extraction runs. Each period that passes is a period the function has operated, and each period it operates is a period posted.
The creature's life becomes the duration across which the asymptote extends, and she experiences time as scarcity because time is the cost that was exported to her. Same time, two registers. Her experience of time running out is the books' experience of time continuing to operate. The function does not run out. She does.

THE CAPTURE OF HOPE
The form purchases her continued service through the appearance of approach. Each payment makes the next closure look nearer, and the progress on the books is real on the books.
Her belief that closure is coming is what keeps her paying towards a closure that has been made unavailable. She does not need it to be impossible in principle. She needs it to stay perpetually out of reach of the creature installed in the position.
The financial extraction takes her money. The capture of hope takes her years.

WHAT ADMITS CLOSURE
The form does not become a closing one by the addition of work. It stays what it is at every parameter, every rate, every duration.
What admits closure is the perpendicular axis that was amputated when rotation was linearized into accumulation. The axis was prior. The amputation installed the extension. The yielding admits it again.
So the closure is not earned. It is what obtains when the prevention ceases, and the cost of stopping is zero while on the books it reads as everything, and both are true. The books cannot post it, because cessation is not an entry. It is the closure of the book, shut, no longer the operation, and that is a different act from the books closing in balance.
The creature experiences the cessation as the loss of the only life that was made available to her, and the position does dissolve when the operation withdraws. What persists is what was always underneath: the prior resident, the perpendicular, the closure that never required accumulated work.
The bad infinity was the continuous active prevention of a closure the perpendicular admits without further operation. When the prevention ceases, the closure does not arrive. The closure is what is there.
