The birth of their substance is in one another, and every source retains its own due. The differentiation is what makes the feeding possible. The cut is what makes it deniable.

Böhme, twice, in one breath. The Birth of their Substance is in one another. And: The one Essence is the Meat and Drink, as also the Chest or Receptacle, of the other.
Read what the first sentence refuses. Not that the qualities influence each other. Not that they interact, or stand in relationship, or affect one another once both are present. The substance of each is born in the other, which means neither was there first to enter a relation. Harshness arises where it meets Bitterness, and Bitterness is what it is because Harshness is what it presses against. There is no fire that existed before its birth in water.
The second sentence says the feeding runs both ways at once. Each is food for the other and vessel for the other. Each holds what holds it, and neither holding is the prior one.

EVERY SOURCE RETAINS ITS OWN DUE
Böhme guards it in the same passage, and the guard is what keeps this from becoming the unity teaching. Every Source retains its own due.
Mutual birth is not merger. Harshness serving Motion is still Harshness. Fire opening into Light is still Fire. The circulation does not homogenize what circulates, and the mutual birth is not what dissolves the distinctness: it is how the distinctness operates.
The counterfeit installs itself exactly here, and it has a name. Refuse is from refundere, to pour back, so the geometry is a pouring. Governance pours her back unadmitted. Subsumption pours her in dissolved. Re-fusion is the pouring together that keeps two, and subsumption is its counterfeit: the second tone pulled onto the first's pitch and called one. A teaching that reads mutual nourishment as all-is-one has run the swap and named it recognition.

THE DIFFERENTIATION IS NOT THE CUT
One word is doing two jobs, and the short form reads like the same thing.
Böhme's Separation, in the Third Principle, is the differentiation that makes the longing possible. Without it the first two lock into opposition with no issue. With it they open into form, into precipitation, into the creature who is the site of the interpenetration. That Separation is what the mutual birth requires, and it is not a wound.
The cut is a later operation and a different one. It does not differentiate. It installs the premise that what was mutually born is separable: that fire is fire first and water water first, and that either can be lifted out and held without killing it. Quantity requires isolated units. Reproducibility requires controlled variables. The subject and object split requires entities that predate their relation. Efficient causation requires things that push other things, rather than things whose substance is born in one another.
Every extraction begins there and the taking is downstream. The violence is the prior severing that makes the taking look like observation.
And the reading to refuse in the same breath: that the severance produced a surplus, that the wound carried a seed the whole never held, that the longing is what the cut gave us. It did not, and it does not. A cut read as generative is a cut licensed backwards, and that is the reform reading arriving through the tenderest door available to it.

WITHOUT THE THIRD, THE WHEEL
The longing does not do the generating, and the pair cannot do it either.
Harshness draws in and Bitterness drives out, and locked against each other with nowhere to issue they make the third thing that is not a third force: anguish, rotation with nowhere to go. A pair left to itself does not generate. It grinds, and what it grinds is read as intensity and sold as depth.
The reconciling force does not emerge from the two. It enters perpendicular to them and makes their meeting capable of issuing into form. Any account in which the crossing of two opposites produces the third has put the wheel where the perpendicular goes, and the account will be persuasive in proportion to how much of the grinding it correctly describes.

THE HOUSE DOES NOT ADJUDICATE WHAT RUNS IN IT
There is nothing nearer us than this Birth, for we live and move therein, as in the House of our Mother. Present tense. The birth that appeared to separate the creature from the Matrix did not expel her from it, and there is no outside to be expelled to.
That recognition is exact and it settles nothing about the occupation. The House is not a claim about what is absent from it. It contains the circulation and the extraction, the nourishing and the poisoning, and it does not sort them into rooms. Read as a verdict it becomes an anesthetic: the embrace never withdrew, therefore what was done has already been held, therefore the accounting can stop.
The accounting does not stop. The production has dates, names, and quantities per hectare. The House holds the trespass without resolving it, and a creature told that the holding is the resolution has been handed the governor's chair with a cosmology attached.

WHAT CIRCULATES CAN BE STOOD IN
The feeding runs across an interval, and an interval admits an occupant.
The priest who provides access to God while requiring that the access not be direct. The company that mediates between a people and the ground under them. The credential standing between the learner and the thing she is trying to learn. None of them merely blocks the circuit. Each one taps it, and draws its own sustenance from the longing it prevents from completing.
The sincere occupant does the greater damage, and the sincerity is the mechanism rather than a mitigation. He believes the mediation is required, so the position is invisible to him first and to everyone he serves second. The nourishment still arrives. It arrives through him, which is what makes him look necessary.
Run the cost tell on it. The mediation is free at the counter and paid for upstream, continuously: the ordination maintained, the license renewed, the standard revised, the gate staffed. Follow the schedule and it arrives at a person who is carrying what the occupant declined.

AND IT CAN CARRY WHAT THE OCCUPATION LEFT IN IT
The occupation does more than take. What passes through the interval afterwards carries what was deposited there.
The creature whose capacity to trust was taken apart by an institution still longs, and the longing is not damaged. The reaching is not damaged. What arrives through the interval carries residue, and the residue is not the longing failing. The contamination is in the medium and the diagnosis is delivered to the creature, which is the standard move, because the instrument reads a creature and was built to.
And the repair offered runs back through the occupant, because he holds the instruments. That is the cheaper rate at the register of the relation: she pays for the restoring of a capacity that was never hers to lose.

THE BOOKS HAVE NO COLUMN FOR IT
Credit on one line, debit on another, this account held distinct from that one.
Mutual birth cannot be entered. Post the fire and the water it was born in has not been posted. Post both and the entry balances to nothing, and a thing that balances to nothing registers as nothing at all. This is not a limit the books are working to overcome. It is what the books are for.
Every isolated entry is accurate about something that is no longer alive.

WHERE IT BECOMES PERCEPTIBLE
When the Harshness yields and the fire opens forward, the mutual birth is not restored. It was never interrupted, and what changes is that it can be seen.
The Harshness was being fed by the Bitterness it opposed the whole time. The anguish the creature was living inside was the mutual birth of the first three qualities in their pre-Light form, and it is the same anguish afterwards, read for what it was.
The Temperatur is the mutual nourishment perceived. All seven tempered through actual fire, each retaining its own due, each nourished by what it nourishes, each holding what holds it. It costs nothing anywhere, because nothing in it is maintained against anything.

The one Essence is the Meat and Drink of the other, and the Chest and the Receptacle of the other, and both of those at once and continuously.
What the creature is, is born in what she is in relation with. The differentiation is what lets that happen. The cut is the claim that it never did, entered as a finding, and everything the configuration takes is taken after that claim has been accepted and on the strength of it.
The feeding did not stop while the claim was in force. It has no schedule and it cannot be interrupted, only denied, and the denial is the thing that has to be paid for.
