The creature is handed a fact she cannot deny. The fact is true, and because it is true she finds herself consenting to what has been built on it, the verdict, the conclusion, the jurisdiction, and the consent feels like honesty.
She looks for the error and cannot find it, because there is no error in the fact. The error was never in the fact. The fact is the trap and its truth is the spring.

THE COORDINATE SYSTEM DOES NOT HAVE TO LIE
The smaller fact is always true.
She could have not said it. The metric measures something real. The gun did go off when it was triggered. Interdependence is observable in nature.
Each is a fact and none of them is the lie. The lie is never in the smaller fact. It is in the scaling: in treating the true projection as the whole, the coordinate as the territory, the smaller fact as the fact. This is what makes the coordinate system nearly impossible to refuse, because it does not falsify. It is right about something small and asserts the small thing as the matter.

THE FACT IS A PROJECTION
A smaller fact is the residue that survives the collapse of the living relational whole onto a single axis. The shadow the thing casts on the coordinate is accurate as a shadow, and the whole operation is to hand the creature the accurate shadow and name it the body.
Blame is that collapse exactly: the relational field of the room projected onto the single axis of her speaking, and the projection, she could have not said it, returned as the fact of the matter.
The smaller fact is one face of the doubleness crystallized as the whole, the other face lost. It is the switch performed at the scale of a single sentence: double vision swapped for single, and the single named clarity.

THE LARGER TRUTH IS NOT A COORDINATE FACT
What lives in the imaginal field is the larger truth, and the larger truth is not a coordinate fact: it is relational, contextual, alive.
Despite the smaller fact, the larger fact is that the worship of the loaded gun is social agreement, the room holding the last clear chance, the triggering as the cause. None of what happened before the gun was triggered can be posted. It cannot be halved into debit and credit, reproduced on demand, or measured.
So the coordinate system does not refute it. It rules it inadmissible: anecdotal, unproven, paranoid, ungrateful. The Establishment collapses true into postable, and the larger truth, which is true and not postable, becomes by the Establishment's own grammar untrue.
That is Sophia's position named exactly. What would manifest if the prevention stopped is not mappable, because it is what manifests when the mapping stops.

THE TRUTH IS THE MECHANISM
The smaller fact is the receipt-as-occlusion carried into knowing itself. Each true smaller fact is what blinds the creature to the larger one, and it blinds her precisely because it is true: she cannot refuse it, and refusing the conclusion built on it feels like refusing the truth.
That is the half-acceptance, and the half-acceptance does the Establishment's work for it, because the creature enforces the conclusion on herself once she has granted the premise. The reformer holds the most legitimate receipts there are, because every smaller fact is true, the books all balance, and the audit passes.
The grip is not falsity. The grip is accuracy-at-a-coordinate asserted as totality, and the accuracy is the grip.

THE HERESY COMMITTED ONCE
What the smaller fact does at the scale of a single claim, heresy does at the scale of a cosmology. Heresy, from hairesis, choice or faction, is the elevation of a partial truth to the status of totality, which is the smaller fact's exact move. The smaller fact is the heresy committed once, and the heresy is the smaller fact scaled into a world.
The relation runs both ways. Every heresy is built out of true smaller facts, each measurement accurate and each ranking replicable, and the soundness of the bricks is what makes the cathedral impossible to argue down from inside. And every smaller fact received as the matter rather than held as a projection is the heresy committed in miniature: the partial worshipped, once, as the whole.
To name a claim a smaller fact is to refuse the heresy at the scale where it is still small enough to see.

WHY DENIAL LOSES
The grip cannot be broken by denying the smaller fact. Denying a true thing puts the creature in the wrong on the Establishment's own terms, and the denial is then metabolized as further evidence of her unreliability.
The move is not denial but scale. Grant the projection, refuse the scaling, and keep the field present beside the coordinate. Not that is false, but that is true, and small, and here is the larger fact it was used to bury.
That is the perpendicular: not a better position on the axes but the field the axes project from, which they can register only as its shadow. Testimony, participation and attraction are the field's own modes, and they are inadmissible to a system running on quantity, reproducibility, the subject-object split and the causal chain.

The coordinate system's honesty is its deepest concealment. It captures not by lying but by being right about something small, and the smallness is the one thing it will never name, because to name the fact small is to admit that the field it was cut from is larger, and the larger field is the one it was built to rule out of existence.
The smaller fact is the only honest move the coordinate system makes. The honesty is the mechanism.
