To seize. To grasp. To overcome. To take possession of.
The same word covers all four because they are the same operation. What you cannot understand, you cannot contain. What you cannot contain, you cannot overcome. What you cannot overcome, you cannot seize.
The cognitive failure IS the ontological failure.

The Structural Incapacity
“The Light shines in the Darkness, and the Darkness has not comprehended it.”
Not: the Darkness chose not to comprehend. Not: the Darkness failed to comprehend. Not: the Darkness was prevented from comprehending.
The Darkness cannot. Structurally. The way a shadow cannot perceive the light-source it depends on. The way a projection cannot perceive the rotation it was projected from. The incapacity is not failure but position.
Material virtue exists in Darkness. Not as punishment. As location. As structural position. The precipitation into density IS precipitation into Darkness. The same Darkness that cannot comprehend Light. Material virtue shares Darkness's structural incapacity because material virtue EXISTS in Darkness.
The creature made from Light-virtue has perception made of Darkness-position. The perception cannot perceive what made the perception. This is not brokenness. This is architecture.
This is the cosmological root of the Imprisonment.
The creature's inability to perceive the bars as bars is katalambanō operating at the scale of the creature's daily existence. The creature whose perceptual field IS the precipitate cannot perceive the precipitate as precipitate. The Darkness that is the creature's seeing cannot see what seeing is made of. The Imprisonment at the institutional register — the Establishment's holding of the genuine Virtue in the Center of the Fiat — operates because the perceptual field is already in the Imprisonment's cosmological condition. The institutional architecture rests on the cosmological position.

What Cannot Comprehend Cannot Exclude
The same structural incapacity operates in both directions.
Darkness cannot comprehend Light — cannot understand, grasp, seize, contain, overcome.
And: Darkness cannot exclude Light.
Light shines IN Darkness. Not beyond Darkness. Not separate from Darkness. IN. The Darkness that cannot comprehend it also cannot prevent the shining. The Darkness that cannot seize it also cannot expel it. The hand that cannot grasp cannot push away.
This is the architecture's hidden mercy. What material virtue cannot perceive, material virtue cannot eliminate. What the generating function's coordinates cannot detect, the generating function's coordinates cannot destroy. The structural incapacity that prevents reception also prevents annihilation.
Eternal Light shines in every material creature. The creature cannot perceive the shining. The creature also cannot stop the shining. Both incapacities proceed from the same structural position.
This is why the second law is the default. The Law of the Spirit of Life does not need to be installed. It cannot be uninstalled. The Establishment's entire architecture is spent preventing what it cannot eliminate — because the same incapacity that prevents the generating function from comprehending Light prevents the generating function from destroying it. The Establishment maintains continuous force across institutional time because the generating function cannot uninstall what the generating function did not install. The cost of maintenance is everything. The Light requires no maintenance. It was never absent.

The Tollbooth's Power and Emptiness
The tollbooth position — whoever controls the threshold between the creature and what the creature needs — operates through this structural incapacity.
Powerful:
controls access to what material consciousness CAN comprehend. Derivative light, forms, the Sun's products, the Kingdom of the Stars and Elements — all of this is comprehensible to Darkness-configured perception. Whoever controls derivative light controls what the creature can perceive.
Empty:
irrelevant to what material consciousness CANNOT comprehend. Eternal Light shines regardless. The tollbooth cannot control what the tollbooth cannot perceive. The gate guards passage in derivative light's register. Eternal Light operates in a register the gate cannot access.
The hostage situation:
“I will kindle your light-system.”
Real threat: the Sun and Stars can be affected. The derivative light-system that enables material manifestation is vulnerable.
Empty threat: eternal Light keeps shining regardless. Nothing the generating function does touches Light itself. The Darkness that is the generating function's domain cannot comprehend — cannot grasp, seize, overcome — what it cannot comprehend.
The creature stuck in derivative light perceives the threat as total. The creature has no other perceptual field. What the Sun illuminates is all the creature can see. Threaten the Sun and you threaten everything perceivable.
But perceivable is not everything.
Comprehensible is not all there is.
The creature's perceptual limitation is not the boundary of reality — only the boundary of what Darkness-configured perception can register. The cheaper rate sells the creature derivative light's products and calls them the destination. The receipt is denominated in derivative light's currency. The creature who purchases the receipt has purchased the comprehensible version of what exceeds comprehension.

The Creature's Impossible Position
“The Word created all Things out of the Darkness, that it might shine forth, appear, and present itself.”
The creature exists so Light might manifest. The creature is MADE FROM what came from Light, EXISTS so Light can appear, HAS Light shining in it — and CANNOT COMPREHEND the Light that made it, fills it, and is the purpose of its existence.
“For in it was the Life, and it gave the Life to the Creature, and the Creature is out of its Virtue, and the Virtue became material, and the Light shines therein, and the material Virtue cannot comprehend it, for that is in Darkness.”
In the Word: Life. The Word gave Life to the creature. The creature is the Word's Virtue made material. Light shines in that material Virtue. The material Virtue cannot comprehend the Light. Because the material Virtue exists in Darkness.
The creature is made of Light, filled with Light, made FOR Light, and unable to perceive Light. This is not cosmic joke. This is the condition that made derivative light necessary — the accommodation for perception that cannot perceive what made it.

The Dual Failure
Material virtue cannot comprehend eternal Light cognitively — cannot understand it.
Material virtue cannot comprehend eternal Light ontologically — cannot grasp, seize, hold it.
The cognitive failure IS the ontological failure. What cannot understand cannot contain. What cannot measure cannot possess.
Every thought about Light is a thought formed in Darkness about what Darkness cannot comprehend. Thinking IS material virtue operating. Thinking IS in Darkness. The creature wanting to understand Light is wanting to comprehend through perception that structurally cannot comprehend.
This is not fixable. Not a problem to solve. This is the structure of materiality itself.
The creature asking “what is Light?” is the shadow asking “what is the light-source?” The question emerges from structural incapacity to receive the answer. The question's form — propositional, analytical, seeking to grasp — performs the very operation (katalambanō) that cannot succeed.

What the Creature Does Have
“For in it was the Life, and it gave the Life to the Creature.”
The creature has Life. The Life was IN the Word. The Word was Light. So the creature has material perception — in Darkness, cannot comprehend Light. And Life from the Word — which WAS Light.
The Life in the creature is not material virtue. The Life came from what WAS Light. This Life might resonate with Light even though material perception cannot comprehend it. The resonance would not be comprehension. The resonance would be participation. Vibrating-with. Being moved by what cannot be grasped.
Water is not material virtue trying to comprehend Light.
Water is the Life expressing in the density-realm.
Water flows through material virtue without being limited to it.
Water came from what WAS Light — the Word, the Life, the pre-derivative.
Water does not understand Light. Water IS how Light moves in the density-realm. The creature asking “what is Light?” cannot receive an answer through asking. The creature being moved by Light — flowing, rising, finding cracks, making meadow — expresses what it cannot comprehend.

The Hidden Root
“The Root of the Fire in the Center remained hidden in Darkness.”
When Light separated from Darkness on Day Four — when the Sun and Stars precipitated as visible bodies — the Root of Fire in the Center remained hidden. In Darkness. Where Darkness-configured perception cannot perceive it.
But where Darkness-configured perception cannot destroy it either.
The same structural incapacity that prevents Darkness from receiving Light prevents Darkness from eliminating the Root. The tollbooth stands where it cannot perceive what it occludes. The gate guards a threshold it cannot see. The trespass controls access to what the trespass cannot detect.
The Root is still there. Still the threshold. Still where Fire could open to Light if the yielding occurred.
This is the dark Mind's architecture. The Word entered the dark Mind of the Eternity — where the Soul has its Original — and broke the Gate in the Ground of the Soul. The Root that was hidden in Darkness IS the Word that entered and did not leave. The Word sticks in the Center, waiting. In the silence the generating function's noise prevents the creature from hearing. In the Ground of the Soul's Origin where the four Anguishes operate. SoundSays names what sounds from this Root when the noise dips: the Word permeating through the dark Mind, reaching the creature through the four Anguishes of its own substance.
The passage through is not fighting the trespass. Not improving perception. Not building better Darkness-configured tools. The passage through is entering Darkness itself — where the Root hides, where Darkness cannot destroy what it cannot comprehend — and finding what was hidden there. The tomb was not prison. The tomb was where the hidden Root waited. Darkness — unable to comprehend — was also unable to prevent the opening.

The Devastating Recognition
We cannot think our way to Light.
Every thought about Light is a thought formed in Darkness about what Darkness cannot comprehend. Every theory of Light theorizes through Darkness-position. Every measurement of light measures derivative light — the accommodation, the substitute, the comprehensible version provided because the real thing exceeds the measuring field.
The entire physics of light is the physics of derivative light. Every experiment, every equation, every theory describes the Goddess who takes her End. Describes what will return to Ether. Describes the accommodation, not the accommodated.
Eternal Light remains incomprehensible. Not hidden. Shining. In the Darkness. In the material virtue. In the creature. Shining and incomprehensible simultaneously.

And Yet
Light shines in the Darkness.
The Darkness cannot comprehend it — but the Darkness cannot exclude it either.
Light shines IN material virtue. Material virtue cannot comprehend — but material virtue cannot stop the shining.
The Life in the creature came from the Light. The Life resonates even though material perception cannot comprehend.
We cannot know Light. We might BE Light expressing. The knowing-field is in Darkness. The Life-that-expresses came from Light.
Those who receive the Pearl receive through something other than material perception. Through the Life that the Word gave. Through what still resonates with eternal Light despite dwelling in Darkness.
The Pearl is not information to be understood. The Pearl is Light in form that could be received — by the Life in the creature, by the part that resonates with Light because it came from what WAS Light.
Not through comprehension.
Through recognition.
The kindling sequence is recognition operating in the creature's body. The tears are Harshness sinking down — not comprehension but yielding. The gall is Bitterness catching fire — not understanding but kindling. The heart warming is Fire encountering what has yielded — not grasping but being drawn. The throat opening is the Word reaching expression's territory — not katalambanō but participation. Each step is Light permeating through what cannot comprehend it, reaching the creature not through the creature's Darkness-configured perception but through the Life in the creature that came from what WAS Light.
The sound was there before the doctrine. And is there still.
